Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | RE: Fire opals for sale! //120 gold for a fire opal. it takes 2 fire opals and a silver nugget to make a ring that gives +2 reflex save. So..the price of the ring is what? 400 gold. Im sorry but in my book that price is more than cheap. it will ultimetely result in people buying rings and jewlry for pennies. Has happened before. And it was'nt pretty, one result was mushrom powder for 450 gold. Just saying, careful about the prices, the lens is there as a guide, would be a shame not to use it. ((yes i know its not entirely accurate, but 120 gold...the lens says 3000, for a cut stone))

| RE: Fire opals for sale! //Ah alright... I just thought that that was REALLY high for a fire opal and decided to lower it. I will change the price next time. Thank you for informing me!

| RE: Fire opals for sale! //in the gem price guide I put together (still needs tweaking) I said mineral fire opals should be worth around 1200. that number is of course flexible, but somewhere around it should work. | | |

| RE: Fire opals for sale! I agree that 120 is too low for fire opals, but 1200 is way too high a price...maybe around 500 would be fair. | | |

| RE: Fire opals for sale! Fire opals are high end crafting items. The price should reflect that, it takes quite the fighter or a seasoned wizard to even get to these opals. were talking about 30+ giants you need to chew your way through. Well thats my opinion. As a side note i used to pay 2000 for a saphire. That might sound expensive, but considering the price an end item will be sold for. Its a fair price. Again my opinion. eople are buying emerald at 80k+, diamonds for 5-8k maybe or more. I think 2500 for a fire opal is fair. | | |

| RE: Fire opals for sale! In making my prices for the mineral gems, I took into account how hard it is to obtain the gems, and how valuable their various end products are. The guide, when finished and tweaked, will replace the current lens prices on gems so if anyone has any input... we should probably make a new thread about it since its rather off topic here and the old one is really long.
The priceguide i was working on can be found here, on the first page of the thread: http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums...=9296&posts=32
The prices for cut and fine stones are based on a formula of the mineral price (which needs to be tweaked a bit I think) and enchanted prices... um ignore that column for now.
Ring and amulet prices are not close to being finalized and some of the prices in this document are made in anticipation of some changes i suggested so, Ignore them too for now.
The fire opal is priced where it is because if it went much higher it would be "worth" more than many of its products.
