| Wild Surge Inn This forum is to the place to go to speak in character about things in the game, spin tales, or...Please keep this In Character (IC) at all times. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | halfling hero is half a hero tonight I went with Stump, Freldo, Rollie, Honora, and other great heros I had just met. We followed Stump to a meeting with a man I have come to regard as very dangerous, Renji, and he led our little army to a battle with singing goat men. At first there was seeming victory but then...ice, flames, arrows, and for me; death. So here I sit a mere shadow of myself. Drinking cheap ale and eating hard chese. How will I find the courage to ever leave the safe walls of Hlint again. Mr. Pandorn said, "Be Careful" but... instead I tried to be courageous. Perhaps halflings aren't meant to be Warriors. I met a halfling mercenary outside Fort Last, he wasn't much of a warrior, I killed him as he wouldn't listen to reason. I regret not having been born a Giant like Stump so crushing things would come easily. I am depressed but perhaps its this cheap ale. Here let me pour you one.
*this story is repeated frequently and loudly to each person in the tavern by an increasingly wobbly and maudlin halfling until he crawls outside a passes out under a bench* | | |

| Satyrs ... Freldo walks and catches the other patrons talking after Berri left ...
Am I the only one that values life?
I do not like dying for worthless causes and slaughtering satyrs is not a just cause.
Seriously, Jerei, Kiva, Renji and Ash's behaviour out there was just a little too crazy.
They seemed to have incorporated Jareg's suicidal spirit with the satyrs, I couldn't heal them fast enough. I also couldn't help them fast enough also - they just RAN OFF looking for another one to kill after falling one - I had some spells of hasting and a few other ones to help them out but NOBODY wanted it, they just RAN OFF!
Oh look, a satyr smelling a flower!
Punch, punch, punch, punch...
Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab...
Fight, fight, fight, fight...
Death.
Oh look, a satyr with a stick in his hand singing a song!
Punch, punch, punch, punch...
Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab...
Fight, fight, fight, fight...
Death.
Oh look, a satyr going to the bathroom behind the tree!
Punch, punch, punch, punch...
Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab...
Fight, fight, fight, fight...
Death.
Oh look, a satyr sick and dying of some forsaken disease!
Punch, punch, punch, punch...
Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab...
Fight, fight, fight, fight...
Death.
The only one with enough prudence to want to stop that crazy loop was me. Poor Berri got caught up in the craziness - he did very well by the way, for a self-proclaimed coward, he's a very stout and very quick fighter he is of value to any group of adventurers.
Luckily for me, the satyr's guardian showed up and stopped the silliness before it was too late for them and for me - I'd like to meet a satyr one of these days, they must have some very nice stories to tell, especially after the attempt of some of my companions to kill all of them.
