Default The Dragon's Whisper -BOUNTY- Creatures from the abyss

Seplar 1416

~~ Bounty ~~

The brothers Jacrum and Gothim Shieldbreaker came across a bounty hunter in the deserts of Dregar. After some initial confusion of each other's intentions, the creature the hunter was sent to kill was destroyed.

The bounty hunter has the look of a humanoid fox and wields a pair of acid blades and has a longbow. If you see this man, be wary of your surroundings and flee or assist if trouble arises.

The creature dispatched was vicious and frightening to behold. It wove darkness about itself and tore through flesh with its massive jaws. Beware it leaping upon you! The bounty hunter suggested that it and two others had escaped from the Abyss.

The Dragon's Whisper is seeking all information regarding these events. A bounty, payable in True, of up to 2000 is offered for more details.

Further word has reached The Dragon's Whisper that one of the demons was encountered in the moors past the outskirts of Fort Vehl. Travel with caution.

The Abyss? *Kinai reads this with a frown, then shakes her head, taking out a note and tacking it on*

Hey, Bee, if you ever need help on the general information taking, you know where to find me. When it comes to the creatures of darkness and the Abyss, you got me twigged, so don't let me sit out on this one!

Found one! Then lost it... You were there, Bee; bloody thing's trouble.

Be wary of its voice, all - it deafened me. Praise be to priests with the healing touch.

The claws and jaws are just as terrible as described, and shadows bloody well roll off of it like mist from a pond.

It was first encountered in the Vehl crypts, and did not attack me until I exposed a Desert Firstbloom Wildflower - a blossom imbued with positive energy. However, it got out, thanks to our attempts to corner it and at least find what it was, and made off to the Brech mountains, where it burrowed into the ground.

The tunnel was collapsed by its shriek - I have never heard such noise.

I need to find this foxman.

*A little note is left*

Apparently the one you followed got out and we followed it down into his whole, that thing can sure jump. We failed in our attempt to get rid of it.

*Tacked by the Postmaster to this notice, in Pyyran's angular hand.*

Please attach this to the Dragon's Whisper bounty regarding creatures from the abyss - it is an informative addendum to the current posting.

---

I saw the Mistonan creature in the Gloomwood... It chased me briefly, then took to tearing deaders apart. Then it ran off again.

Though you and the others might want to know. I've warned the mercenaries to warn others as well.

Three creatures in the Gloomwood, not one! Fox was here, got paggered by them, made it out alive. He's a Shadowdancer!

Bloody troll toes I hope the things aren't spawning.

If we're talking about the right creature, I and several others follwed and killed the one mentioned to have burrowed into the brech mountains, however there were three more. It seems there is a pack. Their shrieks were paralyzing and they darkened the air wherever they went. Hard to fight something you can't see. I don't know what it means but they can't be good.
*mumbles slightly* had to be one of the hardest battles I'd ever fought, I feared for my life and the lives of nearly 7 people were claimed by it.

I have seen this creature that you speak of. It was seen in the fields of Port Hempstead. A group of us tracked it to a cave in the Ire Mountains. We followed it in and then lost its tracks. A majority of us were then paralyzed and deafened by its hideous howl. I may be called a coward for this, but we ran out of that cave as fast as we could. I hope that if I see the likes of that creature again, I will be more prepared.

A group I was with encountered another of these monsters and followed it to a burrow at the base of the Brech mountains. We dropped in a fire bomb, sealing the burrow, but at least four of the things reappeared in another place in short order. We retreated to regroup and consider our next move.

The hunter others have spoken of appeared then, dragging the heads of three of the monsters. He did not speak, but was able to communicate by drawing. He indicated that the sun was good, the moon bad, and then pointed at the clouds overhead. We took that to mean that these are creatures of the dark, allowed to roam because the sunlight they hate is blocked by clouds.

He then summoned an undead creature, which he proceeded to kill with a spell of full healing. We took this to mean that spells of heal will kill the monsters infesting the mountains.

The last thing he tried to convey was "being still", not moving. We think he may mean that the things sense movement or vibrations to locate their prey, namely us.

We were unable to find out more, as he then disappeared, happily munching an apple pie.

It happened again. I was out at the kobold camp near hempstead and a creature of the abyss appeared surrounded in darkness. I ran to hempstead and reported the incident to as many people as possible including a troop of town guards. The beast appeared near Hempstead and the guards rushed to fight it. They were slaughtered and the beast took off. I joined with Sasha Ralinda, Ron, Sala, Taric, and Katrina (who was a bit off today) and chased it down all the way to the Brech mountains once again where fresh blood covered the hole that we descended the other night (I mentioned before, sorry I didn't post the names. I know the Shieldbreakers were there, Tariana, Ben Poetr, Clarissa and Tragor were there.) This time more spiders came up and we killed them. We held them off until an exploding flash was tossed down and the cave collapsed. We reported our findings to the authorities afterwards but before that several dark beasts descended form the mountains. We ran and waited outside Vehl. Then we came across none other than the aforementioned fox creature with dual acid blades. He held with him the heads of three of the creatures on a rope. He pointed to the darkened sky over the mountains and explained to us, (with a demonstration on the undead) of how clerical spells that heal or mimic sunlight can hurt them. Though he emphasized sneaking up on them. I came to report the news soon after so everyone could know.

This reported by Wrythe

(I suppose I reported to late as She had beat me as I was typing. I hate being a slow typer. Anyways I hope this can fill in some of the blanks. Good job at beating me though )

Three stout and battle scarred dwarves enter the Scamps Mug, each with wicked looking axes at their belt and broad iron shields on their backs. They are followed by a fourth robe clad dwarf who is puffing hard to keep up with his companions. Two of the dwarves are clearly twins, with strong builds, fiery red beards, and the symbol of Vorax on their shields. The boisterous dwarves drink hard celebrating some victory. They appear to reenact battle scenes, making jokes and comments at each other expense. One of the twins makes a terrible screeching sound causing the robed dwarf to jump in his seat and peer at the shadows. The other twin pulls out a healing potion throws it at his brother, who in turn roars then pretends to fall over dead. Another pulls out a strange artifact that glows with the brightness of the noonday sun, illuminating all the shadows of the seedy dock-side tavern. Finally with their pockets emptied and their bellies full of ale the dwarves leave the tavern in the early hours of the morning.

One of the twin brothers comments
“Oi best let Mr Bee know about how ter do this. This tale should be shared as they been needing ter go back down the hole one more time and they may be needing these torches.”

// For those who would recognize them the dwarves are Jacrum, Gothim, Kuguar and Vlanin. //
