Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Default Temple of Toran desecrated!

*posted up in all the alehalls of Mistone*

Recent sightings report that a mummified being of incredible power has been attacking adventurers across the COntinent. Encounters include the Hlint crypts, Broken Wood, and most any high concentration of undead. Attempts to reason with the being have thus far been futile, though it seems to be motivated by a mission to protect all undead. It refers to lesser forms of unlife as it's "brothers" and enters fits of rage when they are banished from the living realm. Be alert, we may need to gather a divine force of great magnitude to banish this entity. It is also possible that Sielen the witch may have encountered it, seeing as how she tends the gravestone in the center of the Broken Wood, one of the primary encounter sites.
It also appears capable of breaching the divine seals of holy temples, an ability lost to most undead save for liches. If encountered... run. Trust me.

This mummy type undead creature is worth note as well.

He attacked the Wild Surge Inn and killed almost everyone there. First the foul undead attacked outside of the town and then proceeded to attack the town and the Inn. Be wary, this is no ordinary mummy, but one of swift speed and terrible power.

During the attack I was able to touch the mummy with the power of my god and it slowed it down a bit perhaps it is a tatic we could use in our defence.

Please heed the warnings regarding this abomination. * RUN * And do so without trying get in a quck blow first. The mummy is extermely powerful and kills at will, as several unfortunates would be able to testify were they still with us. Many have even been frozen to the spot with fear. In this instance, a live coward is better than a dead hero That aside, moves are afoot to find a way to deal with this problem. Watch this space.

I know first hand...this mummy can instill great fear and kill with little effort. Unless you are of epic prowess, I highly suggest avoiding this....abomination...at all costs. Turn the other direction and run...before the choice to do so is taken from you.

* Kobal reads the note, then frowns. *

I better get my maul.

* Before walking off to his house in Fort Llast, he writes a reply on the message. *

If anyone spots this deader, send a bird looking for me as fast as possible.

*reads the notices, tapping her chin thoughtfully with a small finger before adding her own in fluid writing*

Heed these warnings adventurers. I have come across this mummy but once and it is far beyond my power and that of many peoples who walk Mistones soil.

*Reads all notes, then grits teeth*

I am not foolhardy enough to try to destroy this thing by myself. However, I am eager to join a stalwart group to rid the town of the vile creature. If there be such a group, please include me.

*written in a shaky hand* Last night the creature attacked again but this time something different happened. While lying dead...I am not sure if it was a dream or if I was actually taken someplace...but I found myself in a dark area so dark that no light could penetrate it. After some time of confusion I came across a man praying in the dark. He told me he was scared and couldn't leave this place -which already was one of my fears- he also said that he was dead and only a mind with no body. When I asked him how he had died he told me he could not stop the Rouge ( like the color red) and that he was the Cerulean. He then began to talk about how he was the blue next to the clouds. It was all a jumble *marks from tears hitting the page smears the writing some and then it continues* Something about gold as well but I am not sure if it was the color like Rouge and Cerulean. He then asked for my help... I tried to heal him but to no effect... he casted something... I think... and then vanished. Then the mummy appeared in the dark and told me I had to go because I was starting trouble. I awoke where I had fallen tried to explain to my comrades but it was a worse ramble than this. OH oh oh yes a name came to me... I am not sure from where but the name was Aralin maybe someone knows what that means. I also spoke to a man named Ozymodias and he said he thought the mummy was something called a Hunefer not sure what that means but he seemed fairly confident. If anyone has more information or perhaps knows the significance of the colors enlighten us.

*Looking at the note with suprise and saddness on his face. Quantum steps back form the notes.*

"What kind of evil creature is this" he states out loud.

*Looks down and shakes his head, heads back to the table were he sets with his freinds, and pray to to Toran.*
