G’ork has come very far with his training, be it using his axe, using guile, or one of his other more subtle weapons to deal with many of the situations he ends up in.
He has experienced a wide variety of dangerous situations and learnt valuable lessons from the ones that didn’t go quite to plan. He has been innovative in his ways, such as using his blades to remove handles from doors to push the remaining parts inside to unlock doors, or occasionally he has just used his axe to cut his way through them, or kick them down if the job does not require such subtly. G’ork considers himself to be intelligent for his race, being able to speak dwarven and the orc tongue well, he knows his common isn’t as good, though he has no problem communicating himself, despite him not understanding some words, or mixing up the meanings of others. He has also begun to study elven, though he does need to practice a lot more, and is no where near being fluent yet.
Deities & Racial Attitudes
He also has a good understanding of the different deities around, despite disliking most of them, he believes this distracts people from the purpose of living, he’s served enough as a slave in his past he believes.
Some of his views however are as follows:
Vorax & Dwarves – He can’t stand most dwarves due to their attitudes and what he likes to call stupidity in charging without thinking, from what he often has seen anyway. This is just the start of his feelings towards dwarves however. One dwarf G’ork does not mind was Gravas, besides that there isn’t a single one that G’ork finds himself getting along peacefully with, usually if there is a dwarf present, they will make an attempt to arrest him (due to his involvement on the dissolution series), or it has been known some dwarves to refuse to travel with him, or just simply turn around after sighting him.
Rolfirein – Due to the constant hassle he receives from the church and it’s followers G’ork despises them and has in the past has contemplated the thought of setting fire to the temple in Vehl. This thought usually is reoccurs as he passes by. The followers of this particular church have tried at no end to bring him in for crimes he has committed, and he has gained hatred for one person in particular, Sasha, partially from working with her and not agreeing with her methods, secondly because she follows Rolfirein, she has become one of the people G’ork would probably attempt to kill for free, should some one do so much as ask.
Grand & Orcs – G’ork has a fair bit of knowledge about grand as he spent so much time in his younger days among orcs, and went through life seeing and hearing the sorts of things they would argue about, like how many dwarves they have taken the beards from, or how their weapons had been blessed. G’ork believes most of the blessings to be nothing but fancy magic tricks that a wizard might know, beyond that, he believes it’s just a cult of a race at it’s most insane. Though with his knowledge (and a dwarven beard as a belt), he has been able to enter a hall full of orcs to witness first hand how some of the rituals and sacrificial routines take place. G’ork still cannot stand orcs, amused as he was from their rituals and beliefs. If his hatred for both dwarves and orcs were put on a set of scales, the balance would be very even.
Toran – Annoying followers, but nothing much more than that.
Mist – G’ork knows Hardragh follows mist, but outside of this, he thinks most of them are also annoying.
Corath – Anyone G’ork finds following Corath he would be happy to see hung for the wool they once pulled over his eye. If he found one, unless they were to pay him off he would likely take them in to be dealt with, or make sure that it was well known by the public that the person is a Corathite.
Lucinda – G’ork had no problem until the events of the Lucindite poser not paying G’ork his agreed fee when they stole the Tear of Orn from Fisterion. He now knows thinks that the church is nothing more than a cult of magic wielders and due to some of the actions Storold has taken, he has a grudge on a personal level with him.
Elves – G’ork finds them short, arrogant and too easy to upset. G’ork usually keeps his mouth shut around them, though if one makes a rude/abrasive comment then G’ork is quite willing to beat them down into the ground, either with his fists or through hollow threats, that might not seem so hollow due to his status. Though it is rare that G’ork could be angered to the point of killing some one just from words uttered from their mouths.
Halflings & Gnomes & Other Small Races – Easy to step on. Though G’ork did enjoy the company of Bumblebee, despite the fact he was not sure if he could trust him.
Dark elves – Usually if G’ork finds out some one is a dark elf, then he has an advantage over that as knowledge straight away, however he has found that he can work with them from time to time, and from most of the time he has, they have been good sources of information.
Half-Giants and Half-Ogres – Stupid, brainless, only useful as cannon fodder.
Acquaintances & Annoyances
G’ork has gone through most of his life without a care for anyone, however he has found that he can trust one person in his life with everything he has, though he tries to stay detached from people, one person in particular he has not been able to. Ami taught G’ork how to enjoy life more and take his mind away from problems he faces in his day to day life, after returning from a meeting with Fisterion, he realized how much at risk she was being close to him, as she was arrested for assisting him in his get away. G’ork for the first time instead of just running to safety, turned to try and rescue her, to no avail. G’ork then found himself enraged, and alone. After so long of not having anyone to talk to in his life, losing her because of his own problems made G’ork truly regret some things for the first time. Though G’ork cares for Ami, he knows this is his weakness, finding himself unable to control his anger when people hurt or mock her. This has resulted in more than one occasion of G’ork laying into people, leaving them a lot of the time in a bloody mess. She is the one person G’ork would never hurt, or betray.
G’ork has a small circle of friends, though a lot of them he doesn’t fully trust, and thinks he may be just a tool to some of them. He is yet to learn if he can rely on most of them. You could say that G’ork only has three real friends: Ami, Emie, and Hardragh. Possibly one other being Phyress, but he is still wary of her, because of some of the friends she has. Until recently he did try to patch up problems he had with Sallaron, but he no longer thinks he can rely on him for information due to recent events. Time will tell.
G’ork is not a people person, though he finds most fear being near him due to the rumors that have been spread about the many kingdoms of the things he has done. Some people that do know G’ork, say he is fine until you get on the wrong side of him, which is true, if there is no reason, G’ork won’t bother, people in the past that have been rude or arrogant to him, G’ork has taught a lesson to quickly. Rarely killing them, sometimes just enjoying beating them within an inch or two of their lives. Shiff was an exception to this after angering G’ork to a point of cutting him down after a trip. Generally though G’ork now tries to avoid too much trouble as he is very well aware he has few places he can travel without having people attempt to make arrests on him.
Business & Trade & The troubles with it
G’ork has done himself proud with his crafts, he started profiting from trading armors, weapons, wood crafts and even mining for people to earn a living, for a long time anyway until he became very well off from certain contracts he had received, not to mention cutting people out of the deals in place to profit even further from them.
G’ork is still trying to set up new business deals with some of the people he believe he can work with, though he knows a lot of the time he will have to sell through a third party to avoid putting people off from purchasing things from him.
He has also a very limited amount of people he can buy from because of his actions in the past, he knows any attempt to buy directly from certain people/guilds would just result in a refusal of sale. Especially the Ravens – Hearing their names makes him clench a fist in rage, especially after trying to resolve issues with them, only to have attempts to be made to arrest him once more. Because of them he has also been made an outlaw in a few places, such as Lor.
G’orks curiosity has landed him in trouble several times, ending up in the lock down of a Corsain’s West Gate, meaning he had to flee from the town and across the border of the kingdom to get away safely. His curious manner has ended up sparking hatred of several churches, as well as being betrayed by some of them, including a Corathite cult G’ork found himself in without knowing, though he eventually killed the one responsible. (G’orks CDQs towards being an assassin).
Although G’ork may not seem like the sort of person to respect authority, he has in the past helped out several places hunting down particular people and bringing them in for questioning, or killing off a beast that has been causing trouble etc. – Obviously only being after the reward that was stated he would receive, in his eyes though this more than makes up for some of the trouble he has caused, although he doesn’t really care anyway.
How do you see your character being or becoming a World Leader?
G’ork would be an interesting choice for a world leader for several reasons – He is not like many of the other ones simply being the first point. The second being that he holds a lot of knowledge about the goings on in the world (mainly the Dragon Storm Campaign), and has been directly involved in a fair bit of it, as well has having a wide range of other bits of information. Most people don’t trust G’ork, but those that know him well know he can be, so long as he is not betrayed, or finds a good reason to betray them.
What sort of position and/or title do you envision for your character?
I’d like G’ork to become some sort of leader of a small force or something along those lines, maybe a small group of assassins or simply a group of mercenaries. Something that would ensure him to have some protection. Possibly a source of information/brute strength for when it is needed. He would be willing to seek out groups and train them to be all they can be, if they can prove to be loyal, only if they can prove to be loyal. I’ve actually been thinking about possibly a cavalry, to make it something a bit more different.
