What are the negative affects of deafness on the bad guys? Does it stop casters from casting? If so what caster skill negates it? And if there is a skill that does that, how many of the high level bad guy casters have it?

According to the NWN manual, a deaf character has a 20% chance of failing while casting an arcane spell.  I would think that Silent Spell feat would negate that, but I'm just making an educated guess there.

Auto silent spell I - III negates silence but deafness is different.

Divine casters are not affected by deafness, it is only bards/sorcerors/wizards who receive the spell casting failure.

Deafness also means they won't be affected by bardsongs, or be able to detect sneakers through a listen check.

I have a hunch that Bioware implemented the spell failure as your regular armour induced spell failure. That's why clerics and druids are not affected by it.

So, without having tried it, if you'd use still spell you should be able to negate the effect.

Hmm it seems striking your enemies with deafness has more beneficial affects on them then negative. This is especially true if you travel with a bard.

The other way around I would say. They'll be immune to curse song or any of the skald chants.
