Question about characters

I was wondering what will happen to characters that reach the magical lvl 40 .

Since the only characters i saw that high were GM avatars , i was wondering if to them the same things apply as to chaotic evil chars .

In another thread i understood that the game won't be adjusted to that high lvl because others can not fight what is needed to be placed to keep characters of this high lvl " on their toes " when adventuring .

There is as of the version we are in now level 40 areas IG, and most of the highest level areas are geared to still be a challenge even if you reach level 40. You wont level any further from that point but I am pretty sure that you are allowed to play the level 40 character as long as you like(edit, as long that the character is alive should be stated here).

When PCs reach level 40 they might realise the view really isn't that special up there at the top of the mountain .. all the best views were had as they travelled up the slope.

Though I really have no idea, I would bet pretty much whatever that there would be no forced NPCness or retirement on a PC at lvl 40. I imagine it'd be quite invigorating .. freedom from xp .. pure RP. Now THAT's a real reward.

Well obviously there's no further progression, ability-wise or stat-wise for level 40 characters. However, if someone does reach that level, they are welcome to continue playing them. They won't lose their characters.

There are some areas now (and I think in the coming update) that will still be deadly/challenging for even 40th level characters.  But you are correct in that we won't be adjusting anything overall because some people reach 40th.

What the players decide to do with their characters, however, is up to them.
