Dark Heros and Righteous Villains

Not sure is this questions been asked yet but a small thing I've been thinking about... if say a character is aligned to evil, does that mean that they can only fight for evil and vice versa, Can a good aligned character also fight for evil?

Not sure exactly how the later would really work but then again... we do have good aligned deities in Layo that are the hated enemy of another good aligned deity so... witch ones are fighting for evil? :D just kidding.

Though I would say I can very well see an evil character fighting for good... after all that's what a dark hero is right? He fights for good... but does it in a very evil and malicious way... that or just taking assassination contracts only on those that do evil.

Most convincing evil characters believe they are acting for the greater good. That does not make them any less evil as defined by their actions. You don't have to be nice to be good, so I would think very carefully about your evil concepts if your intent is to have them be completely justified, as chaotic is typically the idea when it comes to brooding anti-social behaviors with good cause and individual methods of eliminating evil... not really comparable to actual evil behaviors as defined by actions taken in alignment.

There are no limitations, it is up to each characters personal motivations with alignment considerations built in.

Eg: I play a LE Assassin who is Lawful to the extreme and her evilness is simply because she has no conscience in what she does. She follows a very strict code that to good honest people seems partially reasonable and acceptable. But its in the fine details and the application of that code that there is the greatest difference.

Also you have some evil powers workign with good powers against the Cult in the main plot. Now some PC's work for those evil powers and some work for the good powers and both are working towards relatively the same goals. Just some choose different paths and actions to get there.

Hm, thought so... can't wait till I can play evil then... might try making a dark hero some day. Hm, an overly serious LE Rofireinite? An impatient man who would prefer to kill any and all law breakers on sight? If open PvP he probably would but seeming its not he'd be IC held back by the peoples rights to a trial. Though... crime punishable by death? Well... might not be held back that much. (Save for non-open PvP.)

"Your crime has been witnessed. Your judgment? Guilty. Punishment? Death."

Anyways... thats beside the point. Thanks for the quick reply.

There are also those that walk the very fine line between good and evil (or attempt to). Some are hero one day, and villain the next.
