polymorph and pixies

A quick question...

Can you use the open lock skill when transformed into a pixie?

And if I put points into open lock does that work when transformed into a pixie?

Thanks,

as a familiar I assume. Pixie automatically does open lock and has a skill beyond anything wizard would take. this grows with levels automatically also. Pixie will open doors if it can whether possessed or not

I just did a quick check and found our that if you polymorph into a pixie (I tried it as a ranger) you can actually open locks.

Note: You need to have 'Open Lock' as a skill already so you can make use of it. But given you put some points into it, it even works while polymorphed into a pixie.

I did not use the Layo-HAKs to verify, just the standard NWN and the Ranger Polymorph.

Correct, skills like disable trap, open lock and spellcraft need at least one point to 'activate' the skill.

Which is why for example mages are such good trap removers. They only need 1 point in disable traps, then use their intelligence and Find Traps to up their skill to rival rogues.

Ah so that makes sense, I have not one point in open locks, and when I was polymorphed into a pixie it said something like... Success never possible.

So if I put just one point in I should be fine!

Thanks!
