Epic Warding
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:04:59 pm »
Hi,

I do not know if this is a bug or not. According to Lore, Epic Warding requires epic level, spellcraft of 34, mage, cleric, druid, etc etc. Kylie has 35 in spellcraft and meets all of the requirements, yet she cannot pick it. This is a normal feat I am using, not a bonus feat. So is this a bug? Or does Lore needs to be changed?

-Kylie

Below is copy from Lore

Type of Feat: Epic Spell
Prerequisite: 21st caster level (see notes), the ability to cast 9th level spells and 34 ranks in Spellcraft
Specifics: Casts the Epic Warding Spell 1x per day (see below).

School: Evocation
Component(s): Verbal, Somatic

Description: The spell conjures a powerful magical ward around the caster protecting against all physical damage. It grants damage reduction 50/+20 and absorbs 50 points of melee damage per caster level before collapsing. This spell is not affected by armor casting penalties, nor can it be interrupted.

Didn't think it was open to clerics or druids.  Typo?

Sorry, this is actually an arcane epic spell, requiring epic levels in the sorcerer or wizard (or Pale Master) classes. LORE will need to be edited to reflect this.

Edit - I put a note in LORE bugs so someone can change it... Here is the wiki page.

And bards? unless that has been change (bards are considered arcane)

Yeah. I mentioned that in the other thread but didn't note it on here. I only grudgingly admit that bards can take epic spells now. ;)

Yeah according to Wiki I think only Sorcerors and Wizards can get it :(

Although Bards do cast arcane spells they aren't mentioned in the write up so not sure.

Unfortunately Lore seems to imply Clerics can take epic warding:

Quote
Notes:

Despite not gaining the ability to cast ninth (9th) level spells, a Bard can take epic spells at twenty-first (21st) level and above.
The twenty-one (21) caster levels must be gained in a base class (Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, or Wizard), with the Pale Master Prestige Class being the one exception.
A Pale Master can choose this epic spell at level 15 and above.

Which is not true.

Question I ask myself is if this spell has been modified to fit Layo itself in the past and that would allows it to be used by druids.. I guess not though since a cleric can't use it.

Epic Warding is not available to Clerics or Druids.

It is available to Wizards, Sorcerers and Bards.
