    This is probably common knowledge...

...but I haven't been on for a while (I go in cycles), and when I logged in recently, my character ended up in the starting area for new characters. I'm not sure exactly where I ended up after that, but I assumed it was some kind of bug, since the last place I'd been in (and hadn't gone far away from) was Hlint. After spending a while trying to find a way back, and unsuccessfully attempting to get help from a DM, I ended up getting killed, then respawning at the bindstone.

I'm assuming there was a major change at some point, since even when I got back to Hlint, it was much different. I kind of just wanted to know if that's what happened, or if there really was a bug. And what's the "main" town where people usually are, now? I'm pretty sure it's no longer Hlint, since it was deserted.

As we moved over to V3 the starting place was indeed changed. The two areas are either Port hempstead or Fort Vehl. Usually some people are around said cities though there is a difference between those two, "Monster races" and dark elves are not seen in Hempstead whereas they should hang around somewhere else but not Hempstead ;)

If you follow the road that goes through the goblim wastelands away form hlint and stay on the trail you will come to fort llast, then you go south...  and east, past the pawn shopper and follow that road until you pass the Dark tower and come to the Broken/Hallowlight forest.  stay to the right and follow the edge until you come to fort Wayfare (nexxt transition you pass in that forest)  then follow that road over the river and you are dang close to Port Hempstead.

As a general rule a OOC tell to an established player, GM player or WL player saying something to the effect of  " I'm lost in Hlint and can't find my way" should find you not only an escort but a good chance for some interaction as well.
