Question on "=L bla bla bla" text parsing
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:17:27 am »
A couple of questions on the new text parsing:

1) if we use "=L bla bla bla" will a GM always be able to understand it (if in hearing range)? I.e. would a GM possesing a human NPC (without ear of gnomish) be able to understand a PC speaking in gnomish?

2) What is the hearing range? Does it use the talk channel, DM channel or something else?

At the moment,
[list=1]
  • No, and
  • Talk.

1) as far as GM comprehension, it's the same as with the "/o c L" syntax, and is dependent upon the GM taking the correct measures to "hear" the pre-translated text.

2) It uses the "Talk" volume/channel, just as before.

Thanks!

I had assumed it was such, but wanted to make sure.

To clarify my answer, the "No" was for the specific case provided; a GM possessing an NPC who does not have the Ear for Gnomish.

In that situation the GM would be unable to understand what was being said.
