Monk weapons

Alrighty, have gotten many different answers on this and want clarification.  I have been told and read in these forums that nunchaku should and do work like unarmed combat for a monk and should be able to use flurry of blows with them.  This is untrue as I have never been able to.  Is it true that only a kama will work this way?  Would love some clairfication and I need a weapon to use for those who have resistance and dont wanna lose monk fighting skills.

Thanks

Ehm.. where did you read that you could, if so it's faulty? In general feats and abilities don't work for layo custom weapons.

And as far as the monk goes, a lot of it is hardcoded. (can't even adjust the quivering palm attack) So this could quite possible even be impossible to change.

But yeah, flurry of blows only works unarmed or with kama's.

Specialty Weapon: The monk retains his unarmed attack bonus when fighting with a kama.

Special: As long as a monk remains unarmed or uses a kama, she gains a unique base attack bonus. Also, when fighting unarmed, the damage a monk deals increases with her level.

LORE: Monk

From what I can see.... it appears Unarmed AB only adds with a Kama... but... I'll let someone wiser confirm it.

None of the custom weapons (which includes nunchuku, sai, fans, wheels, etc) work with any weapon feat. So no weapon finesse (which is the one that really hurts most monks), no flurry of blows, no weapon focus, no improved critical, etc..
I know it's rather disappointing, but for whatever reason the custom weapons have issues...

(the too slow typing edit): And yes, what the above people say is correct; kamas work with monk attack bonuses, but don't get the damage bonus or work with the "punching" type feats.

(the further edit because re-read the original post edit): Also, gloves that give attack bonuses (lion, malar, dire bear)are the same as weapons for overcoming damage reductions, if that is what you are worried about. Although they don't give the damage bonus that the +x weapons do, they can be used at lower levels than the equivalent counterparts, which is a nice little advantage.
