Ratio

I was wondering about the ratio between the races of layonara and secondly the ratio between commoners and soldiers for the different races.

Well.

As you probably know, we do population make up by race by kingdom, but we/I don't have that for the entire world, as there are some realms not written up yet.
Humans would be the majority though.

As for how many of each race would be classified as warrior or soldier, I'll be honest and say I have never given that any thought at all, except for the obvious that (deep) dwarves will have the highest percentage of warriors, with halflings and gnomes probably lowest.

And then I'm not even considering that you could probably classify every dark elf as a kind of warrior as all of them will have had some basic combat training by the very nature of their society.

It's an interesting question, but there's no hard numbers at this point to be able to answer.

Why do you ask? :)

First and foremost curiosity of the ratio between the races, it's not information that is available anywhere on Lore. At least I have been unable to find it ;)

Secondly then I have closely been following the development of the situation with Rael. And I must admit that the supposed amount of soldiers currently patrolling Rael's kingdom seems to be "slightly" out of proportions.

Current estimates indicate this means that just under 40,000 soldiers, human and demi-humans are now helping to restore order in Rael. (full post)

Prantz has a population of 48.000 I know Rael's kingdom contains more towns but most of those have yet to be written up on lore, therefore I have been unable to give a total amount of people living in the kingdom. I can only guess that it is double or triple all in all, spread out on the forts and towns all of which are significantly smaller than Prantz.

Yes Rael can have moved troops up from his kingdom below, again I am forced to guessing since there is no information at all to the size of his kingdom below. However the current total of population for Layo seems to be 6 millions humanoids, that is counting both above and below.

Deep dwarves just don't seem to score high on the ratio list for me, like dark elves and the other evil races I'm assuming their numbers are kept down by the constant waging of war among the clans and with the other dwarfs.

Rael having 40.000 professional soldiers seems to be a far reach, unless he has actually gone and completely drained his underground army.  And it seems that logically he is busy pulling his own kingdom down around his ears with the effort of providing supplies to that large a number of troops.

There is some information on the size and transportation of his troops to be found in game as well as out, and not all of it is obvious IC just from looking at his surface capital.

Edit - sorry, let me clarify, I realize that wasn't the entirety of your question as the subject of the thread was "ratio." I was tossing in a side comment since you were obviously looking into it IC as well, and a similar question floated around before about the perceived impossibility of being in x number of places at once.

Right.

Kingdom numbers are on the kingdom pages (which is what I meant when I said we do have the make up by kingdom) See LORE: Rael kingdom

So there are 430k people in the kingdom, of which 86,000 are Deep Dwarves in Rael on the surface. These 430k include the 31k of Lor by the way.

Right, and I have a 9 page write up of Rael the Deep, but have intentionally not put that on LORE to promote intel gathering.

Right, that figure still stems from the end of the Dark Ages I think so it will be a bit higher now, so let's give or take a few hundred thousand.

Actually, it's not a far reach, the 40k soldiers, it's a very militaristic kingdom/society, and now not only has Deep dwarves in it, but also human citizens of Rael. While the adventuring population has continued to rage against Lord Rael the Benevolent, the common people have had a rather good life. Sure there's restrictions, but all in all they can live their lives and most never experienced the pre-Rael days.

Also, considering the size of Rael (surface) there's plenty of farmland to be had. In addition, there's plenty of mushroom fields below as well.

That has to be the best quote/answer I've seen in a while ;)

Thanks for the info Ed, it helps to give a better dimension to the population/forces.
