Does ESA add up to the ability bonus cap?

I have an ESA with +2 CHA and I was wondering if it will add up to the +12 cap on all magical enhancements on a character.

Yes, it count's towards the +12 max to an ability.  You can still add +12 to other stats, but you can only add an additional 10 with a Dark Elf.

As a further note!!!  sub-Race Ability bonuses do NOT count towards the requirements of spells or feats!  If you are a paladin or Cleric Aasimar, the +2 to wisdom does not count towards the required amount of Wis needed for cleric and Paladin Spells, nor would Half Giant Str Bonus help towards feats like Devastating Crit or Overwhelming...

'cause they're green and not white... in other words, the implementation of skins is such that nothing is a base ability adjustment, but is mechanically considered a magical enhancement.

The ageless NWN subrace woes of being green instead of white :(.

One talented fella actually managed to break through these barriers with a server-side version of LETO.  But alas, on Layonara we are left with green versus red versus white.

Yeah I hate it when my subrace skin doesn't get validated. :(

I know someone who actually did that, but he's one of our lovely ex-players (banned) so I doubt he'd want to help...  nor is it likely it would change anyway...

Yeah, my comment was mostly a joke.  In the matter of balance, going white on subrace stats breaks things.  Not horribly, but it opens up stuff NWN didn't expect nor write to.

It also requires that illegal characters be permitted on the server, and that opens up an entirely different can of worms.  There are a number of subrace systems for NWN that use LETO - but they all require that "Allow Illegal Characters" be turned on in the server.

Of course, there is the slightly abusable loophole that NEGATIVE ESA adjustments should, in theory, be able to be offset by more than +12, because the +12 cap is to the base score, not the ESA score.
