Tenser's tranformation
« on: October 19, 2005, 09:20:00 am »
Whenever I change form using Tenser's transformation I loose spells. It does not happen only the first time, but every time I use the spell again.
Lets say I buff my charisma to 28. I use the spell, go down to charisma 22, and instead of 8 lvl 1 spells I now have 7. I go back to my normal form and cast Tenser's again, and loose another lvl 1 spell (not only lvl 1 spells, but just as an example). Each time I change, I loose spells. I'd think that I loose the number of spells equivalent to the bonus of the charisma of my character the first time I use the Tenser spell. After that I should not loose spells, since my charisma is not lower than it did the first time the transformation was made. Am I wrong?

Ohh, and this happens to a sorceror. Might be different for mages.

Makes sense to me. You are turning into an ungainly beast of destruction. You should lose spells.
Can't you tell I hate this spell? :)

But the real answer is that its the way bioware coded it. Happens to all sorts of shifting all around to all classes.

I have been told wizards can avoid this
if the buff bonus is higher than the static
item bonuses they have.

Frendh you are correct if you can buff enough.  Ultamatly the only thing you loose is stats which are based on items you are wearing (i.e. rings amulets cleaks).  The best way to avoid this being an issue is to place your spells in the right slots and use them first.  Takes time but prevents you from loosing spells.  Personally I dislike Tenser's (doesn't last very long).  None the less each class and spell has its unfavorable points.  So as I lake to say "Cast Wisely"

putting spells in the right slots doesn't work in this case though as he's a sorcerer and has no spell slots  this issue is based on the way bioware implemented bonus spells for sorcerers, and is not limited to just tensers transformation, go ahead and take off and put on your rings and amuletes repetedly and see what it does to your spells  also if there are any items that give bonus spells to specific levels if a sorcerer removes said equiped item they lose a spell, the equip and dequip it again they lose another spell

Buffing makes me loose less spells, but still makes me loose spells. *shrugs* It is a good spell, so of course it is alright that it has disadvantages.

Best way i ever saw to override this was to remove the polymorph effect, but add 100% Arcane Failure chance... of course, i guess that would be too unbalanced, hehe.
