Question:Multiclassing into cleric of the Dark Hound
« on: April 23, 2006, 07:57:34 pm »
Would it be ok for Dervish to multiclass into Cleric of Branderback, without a CDQ?
He is currently very close to lvl 9,and i was thinking of taking his 10th as a cleric...
Not that i wouldnt like a CDQ,rather the opposite actually, but i have lots of other ideas,on how to "spend" that.
I feel that i can RP (and would have heaps of "fun" doing it,to my own and others pleasure) him as a cleric of the Black Hound without necessarily exterior input(from a PC).And im eager to go about the roleplaying him as "religious"
(Religious in quote becuse he craves the power that a direct connection with the Black Hound can give him,and would of course do anything when the time comes,to appeace the source of his power so that he may gain more)

This shouldn't be a problem. But you need to apply in your approved character submission (should be in approved characters) with this request. That way we can keep it all in the same thread for easy tracking, when we have so many characters we need to follow this rule.  Once you post there though you also need to read up on what it means to be a cleric and post that you agree to the three requirements http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12212&posts=3&start=1

Do that and I think this will be pretty straight foward.

In order to be a cleric of Branderback would not a character need to be either Neutral Evil or Chaotic Neutral (or Chaotic Evil) ?

This means that this would require an alignment shift of his character prior to becoming a cleric of this faith ?
So it may be as bigger obstacle then at his level etc ?

Yep, that's correct. At the moment, Dervish is True Neutral, so he'd have to shift to CN at the very least (probably easier than going to NE) prior to becoming a cleric for Branderback.

Ohh yes, thats the thing about one step-non diagonal away from ones deity...

Chaotic Neutral
---------------
 1. May keep his word.
 2. Lies and cheats if he feels it necessary.
 3. Never kill an unarmed foe, but may knock out or beat up one.
 4. Never kill an innocent but may harm or kidnap.
 5. Will use torture to extract information but not for pleasure.
 6. Seldom kills for pleasure.
 7. Is not likely to help someone without an alterior motive. (Even if its just
    showing off!).
 8. Has little respect for authority.
 9. Does not work well within groups - tends to do as he pleases, despite orders
    to the contrary.
10. Will usually take dirty money or items.
11. Is very unlikely to betray a friend.

Neutral Evil
------------
 1. Will not necessarily keep his word to anyone.
 2. Lies and cheats indiscriminately.
 3. Will happily kill an unarmed foe.
 4. Will harm and use an innocent, killing if necessary.
 5. Uses torture to extract information. (And enjoys it! May torture for
    pleasure).
 6. May kill for sheer pleasure.
 7. Feels no compulsion to help others without some sort of tangible reward.
 8. Works with others if it will help achieve his personal goals.
 9. Will take dirty money etc without hesitation.
10. Will betray a friend if it serves his needs.
11. Has little respect for others' lives.

i have to admit that i have a really big problem with #9 in CN,as i dont RP derv. that way,and wouldnt like too,he is in RL terms a sociopath,he works well with most as long it benefits him,and he is quite intelligent and would always consider pro's and con's in what he is about to do to make it suits his agenda best, being it long term benefits from a "friendship" or short term, and he has also been known to kill for pleasure on more then one occasion, and he would also always take dirty money, and have some measure of respect for authority as he knows that they can take him down,if he is not carefull...etc etc

So next question is,would it in any way and of course if RP'ed to the liking,be posible to shift his alignment through a CDQ to NE,me being relatively new here,i do understand your policy on evil characters, but also feel that i have can play him as such, and actually somewhat have done so...to my own and others liking.
Personnaly i can live with him not being NE,but would hate to see him as CN,as i would have little fun out of that, and it would change his "nature" completely...But that leaves the non-diagonal rule, that would keep him from "clergyhood",and i really want to go there...
Can we solve this in any way..?

i have updated Dervish' bio,and if all good i will post,my "understanding and willingness to perform the "duties" of a cleric of Branderback" If not approved there is really no reason for me to make the above mentioned post,so thats why i havent yet. (but i have read and understood them,"papers" ready for the signing :) )  http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=23621&posts=5#M156832

This here post was brought to my attention by another player(thanks kenty191 8) )

And has enlightened me on some matters i apparently wasnt really clear about regarding CN alignment.
Consider my question answered and matter "resolved".
(Now to find a GM willing to run an alignment change CDQ sometime :) )
