New Character Kor of Vox
« on: June 07, 2022, 12:12:02 pm »
Name: Kor of Nox
Age: 30
Class(es): Cleric
Race: Human
Subrace (if applicable):
Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity (if devoted): Toran
Domains (if cleric): Protection, War
Biography and Description: Kor was born in a small fishing village on Lake Nox.  First born of 3 sons.  After helping his parents in during his childhood, he joined the local devotees of Toran at age 15.  With them he found his true calling and quickly rose in skill and influence among his peers.  After years of service and advancement, Kor was selected to lead a holy mission to destroy a group of wraiths that were inhabiting a nearby crypt.  While reconnoitering the crypt the mission was ambushed.  Except for Kor, the entire mission was wiped out.  He escaped in a shattered and diminished state.  All who knew him claim he's a mere shadow of his former self, aimless and humiliated.  Upon returning to his sanctuary, he found it empty, as was his village.  Utterly defeated, Kor left his homeland for unknown destinations.  Kor has recently been searching for a sign from Toran to lead him to a new mission.

Hey there,

thank you for this submission. Been a while, I've seen a Toranite being up for submission. I only see two minor issues, one related to the power level, the other the addendum for clerical submissions.

1. While Kor certainly spent many years training with the local clergy, keep in mind that he starts as a level one character. I am not sure why a level one character was chosen in leading a holy mission at this stage. Being selected by the temple in participating the raid makes more sense in my eyes. This should not conflict with his development after the failed mission.

2. Due to the responsibility of a character who is granted divine power to uphold these things submissions for Clerics, Paladins and Champions must contain the following three sections in addition to the standard submission:
  • An acknowledgement that the player has read and understands the dogma and expectations of their chosen deity and intends to follow them.
  • How this particular character sees and interprets their deity's dogma in the past, and how they will, in the future, reflect that interpretation. This does not mean that your character may not change how they interpret the dogma or how they embody that interpretation as they are influenced by world events and RP. Treat this section as more of a description of how your character currently plans to embody their interpretation of the dogma.
  • A discussion/explanation with respect to how closely the character follows normal practices of the chosen deity, particularly in regards to the character's choice of weapon, armor, clothing and even colors worn.

If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate poking me either here on on Discord.

Cheers

Kor sustained several negative levels during the fight with the wraiths.  He failed his saving throw and the negative levels became permanent.   He would be starting at first level.

After checking back with the team, here's the following:

It is fine if we say he was severely injured during the failed raid and thus had to relearn many things related to his training. Leading a raid party would not be entrusted to an entry level character, so he had to be demoted. You'll have to update your submission is that regard, or simply have him partake in the raid as a member and not a leader. The choice is up to you. Also, if a character starts out with a story where by they might have received special treatment (extra money, influence from wealthy family lines etc) even if the story removes this, we need an OOC statement at the bottom of your application that states you acknowledge the character will receive no extra benefits. He will have no claim to a position he held formerly.

Additionally, you still have to update your submission about the special section regarding the submission of clerics (https://wiki.layonara.com/wiki/Cleric_Paladin_and_Champion_Submissions). That section is mandatory for clerical submissions.

Cheers
