Cloak and boot suggestions

Some suggested tailoring recipes for things already in game as droppable items (as I know new items are problematic due to the palette size). Currently neither footwear nor cloaks (with the exception of exceptional ones) are comparable to even mid-level dropped items: The best craftable boots are the boots of the swift (which have limited usefulness, especially for those who already have the dodge feat), and there are no higher level craftable cloaks. I don't think other crafts the disparity between dropped and crafted items is so great. I realize that it could make tailoring too powerful a craft by sheer variety of useful types of items, to address this, I have included ingredients from other crafts in the recipes.

Somewhere in-between the two may work as well. *shrug*

Well, you can find info on item customization here: LORE: Customization

However, I would ask you to please try and keep threads on topic, and please do a search on the forums and LORE before posting with questions... I understand there's a lot of information in the game, and it can be overwhelming for new players (certainly, I frequently still have all kinds of random questions after a year here), but it really doesn't take much time to do a quick search, and to post in an appropriate forum or thread (again, I know it's not always easy to figure out the best forum for a question) if you can't find the information after a quick search.

The cloaks of resistance provide universal saves -- at a minimum they should require an emerald in each recipe (as any universal save amulet is made with emerald).

edit: spelling

Hm, Dire wolf and dire tiger armors (which require no special ingredients) also provide also provides universal +1, so I'm not sure that an emerald is justified; if that's the appropriate gem in jewelry craft, the parallel is nice though. Maybe add emerald dust rather than an actual emerald to soften the requirement a bit, while still tracking the effect of an emerald in jewelry. Or perhaps changing the plus 1 variety to dire wolf, and the plus 2 variety to dire tiger, and bumping the metal level up one (platinum and cobalt respectively?) and making it a very difficult to craft would help to control the item. Or do you think that is still too easy as far as materials for the item level?

I am just stating that those cloaks aren't dropped from creatures that are below a challenge rating of 20.  They are high level items (even though they lens at approximately level 9 to wear) and although there seem to be a lot more around now, they should not be 'easy' to craft.

So either make a high CNR ingredient on the recipe, such that the character really asks if it is worth the risk or use of the CNR, or lower the probability of making one even by a high level tailor.
