crafting how-to books

(1/1)

teefal:
Hi, the craft vendor has 14 how-to guides for sale, and comparing them to the "Tradeskill Stats" and Tradeskills Journal (which have the same list of skills), I notice:

1. There are no books for "Food Crafting", "Infusing", "Musical Instrument Crafting", and "Poison Making".

2. There are no tradeskill stats for "Baking", "Brewing", and "Mining".

Here are my questions:

1. Are "Baking" and "Brewing" part of "Food Crafting"?

2. Are there books someplace else for the other skills?

3. Does mining contribute to some other tradeskills?

Interestingly, Zerpa prefers to learn from someone else, and I'd rather read the book first.  Mirrors real life :)

teefal:
And while on the subject, what is this "Algeron" the books speak of?

Zhofe:
Honestly, I always found those bokks completly useless.

Baking and Brewing are food-crafting

Mining is not a trade-skill and is dependant on how much damage you can do to the rock. Making the raw nuggets into useable ingots however is smelting.

Really, the best way to learn about a craft is to go to the devices the craft uses and see the recipies and your percentages.

And the cards…

I find the cards helpful because if you have the ingredients in your inventory, then the product will be in green.

Also, if you are away from the workbench, you can still pull up the recipe to make sure you have everything before returning to the craft hall. There is nothing more frustrating than putting the CNR’s on the workbench and finding out that you are missing one of the ingredients.

Plus, it gives your the percentage for success and the traits that are required. Everything that the script tells you at the workstation.
