Emptying bags

Not sure if this has been touched on before . . but is there a way to drop a bag into a chest to empty it and the bag re-appears in your inventory while all items in it remain in the chest?  It would be like turning a bag of garlic upside down in a chest dumping the contents.  Just curious.

I think there's a way to script that - I'll look into that tonight.

Well, technically, it's definitively possible.

Persistent chest scripts are already rejecting the bag, so... :)

Would it work that way for crafting tables and workbenches as well.  That could actually make things more difficult. For instance it nice to be able to put my box of gem dust on the bech rather than pull out the right dust each time for alchemy.  If it all got dumped out on the bench that would not be pleasant.  I guess I would suggest that if this got implemented that it be done carefully so it worked for chests specifcally and not all containers.   This could be nice for loading you ox as well although it almost makes more sense that you should be able to put an entire container on an ox like a craft bench since they are beasts of burden.  Hmm.

You can already put containers (bags, boxes) onto crafting stations and they will use the contents of those containers in the crafting attempt.
We most likely won't be allowing one to put an entire bag/box into an ox without emptying it first. Oxen are limited to 40 items, Bags and boxes can hold up to 35 items, and potentially all of them could be stackable, which suddenly changes the max. number of items on an ox from 40 to 14000. This would certainly lead to maassive amounts of lag as the ox pack was removed or loaded as all of the contents are being written to/read from a database.
Oxen are intended for CNR transport, not long-term storage.

Please be forewarned, that if you place carrying bags of value on a crafting bench and the server crashes, your valuable bags will be lost with NO reimbursement. I do speak from experience and a hard earned lesson. Therefore, use this method at your own risk.

Boxes with little value would be the most beneficial and my recommendation.

The ox and crafting table with containers I knew and understand.  I just want to dump into a Large Chest Only.  Takes a while to take the 35 items out of the bag into the inventory, then from the inventory into the chest.  In reality, I would upend the bag full of garlic/aloe whatever into the large chest only.  Sm. chest only holds 10 items anyways, no real use there.  Would this be too difficult a process to create?  Or could it become exploitable or cause more problems than necessary? This is all I wanted to know in the first place . .my apologies if I was not explicit enough.
