portal in Xora' s Tower - entryway

I've made my way to the entryroom of Xora's Tower (I presume).  There is a portal marked. I am unable to interact with it either through conventional NVW means or by the AID approach.  Any insight would be welcomed.  For example, do I need to have an item that triggers events upon entry.

If using the *look around* command fails to do anything in that area, I'd reccomend leaving the area, then re-entering. It might be the issue where NWN gets too many things going on and doesn't fully execute the scripts it is supposed to.

Oh, what do you mean by marked? You should be able to examine the portal but you cant just "*step into portal*" hehe. The portal is a puzzle so if it's not immediately apparent how to get past it, thats intended :)

I was describeig the protal marker on the map.

No go for your suggestion.

I've not had a functional AID system whatsoever.

went back to a new chracater - pregenerated fighter - level 1;

turned off most everyting I could with process explorer (HP files, the spooler, PML driver, any update software crap, my nic connection and then the related security software --> NOD).I have a duocore AMD and gave NV affinity for core 1 and raised the priority to  above nornal for the applicaton.

Ran the game with the character described above and aid did not function even in the tutorial part.

Don't know what to say. I'm flummoxed.

Thats strange... You're typing it on the talk channel in the chatbar right?

Not sure what could be buggering it up, I'll see if I can think of anything.

I too had this bug, I was switching between windowed mode and full screen nwn during the loading in the start area, in addition to running multiple things in the background IRC and some music player.
  I closed everything down, redownloaded the mod (just to be sure) and started again creating a new character and it worked.
  Thats real sad because the only thing in the Main plot that is AID is that portal.
  I hope we can help you to figure out why its bugged. Is your shiney water turned off?
  Is anybody else having this same problem??
