    Songs of a Hero
    « on: April 11, 2006, 04:55:47 pm »
    The town of Hlint,
    a humble place
    Here I sit
    Sun on my face

    I hear a sound
    a distant scratch
    it echoes loud
    behind a loose crypt latch

    I venture down
    to face the dead
    gleaming now
    a skeletons head

    They are undead!
    The fight is on
    I fill with dread
    them with my song

    My sword prevails
    my song is sweet
    a ghouls entrails
    around my feet

    But now to whom
    to tell the tale
    an icy tomb
    which shut I nail

    Another day
    Another fight
    perhaps I'll live
    another night

I met a witch today, you see
and this is what she said to me,
      "You shall encounter wizards three."
To which I asked, "A prophecy?"
But she said, "On the contrary,
a single path, one of many
      chosen arbitrarily
for one so destined such as thee."
"Will I know this path when it I see,
and where does such a path lead me?"
      I asked the witch hesitantly.
She said, "It leads you to your destiny
the end of which I cannot see,
      but power garnered hastily
      will supercede the desp'rate need
the dragon sees to see you bleed."
      "A dragon!?" I said shockingly
"The path begins with wizards three,
      Concern yourself first with these
Or you miss the forest for the trees"
      She said so misteriously.
And as I left she shrieked loudly,
"A parting gift for destined thee,
beware the power of the three
they seek to steal your destiny
      defeating them is your key"
I fled as quickly as can be
      to comtemplate the wizards three.

        The ogre, you know
        is dumb a slow
        but his mighty blow
        can lay you low

A trip to Haven Mine, I took
The foundation of the place, I shook
I cleaned the evil from every nook
I burned the pages of evil's book

Alone I wasn't on this quest
Friend with me, laid ogres to rest
        We travelled walking three abreast
We ventured in to evil's nest

When we emerged from hallowed place
        Admittedly at a slower pace
Than when we entered there to face
To strength of ogres' club and mace

        Victorious were we that day
We lost no members during our stay
To rest those evil beasts we lay
But now we go on our own way

The final curtain draws upon a man
What might the force of death grasps
So noble a cause forgotten by those
who'd say they'd broker his life

Ne'er well done a cause or just
in death be gone, for if it done
was e'er before the life is gone
perhaps the life might ne'er fled

A kiss upon the world was deeds
be done, in every patch of trodden
          ground be lovely blossoms bloom,
but tainted death twisted gifts behind

          A melody of sweet remorse
his word, a truth, can't fill
          The victuals of life elusive
fill the void of man-made sin

A known demise befell this man
          And still accepted well-informed
that final curtain draws on him
what might force of death grasps

I take a stroll upon the road
            What perfect time to reflect
            on times in history recent
            visited upon my new life

            Adventure, glory, people
            Have you been chosen? Choices
            chosen, paths taken, remorse
            taken and freely given

            To have such an.....
            AMBUSH! on the road

            Goblins think I'm their mark
            Droves and scores surround me
            A fight they'll have, for I
            defeated so easily am not

            Prepared for battle, die
I may. But what life a man
            lives cannot be driven away
            from the grip of death

A song springs from my lips
but different! No words this time
but a growl, as a beast possessed
Never heard such a sound in my throat

It pounds in my head, loudest sound
            a fleeing hoard confirms suspicions
known, a howl no worldy being could
create, a ponderous noise I must recall

For future events may warrant a
            desperate measure taken in vain
for heard is sound by those who
live in this world, all heard

            More events estranged, in this
a new land, than ever I had to
            know before, accepted freely but
            pondered greatly, this one most

I must remember this in the future
Such a thing could come in handy

There's an animal inside of me
a ferocity I did not see
I know not where it came from
              Vengeful lyrics bid to run

In his house you do not speak
                Stronger even than he's old
He is no aegis of the meek
At least with him you're never cold

A nestled place, and hidden well
Hard to find and dang'rous too
To work with him is a hard sell
This, my friend, I know is true

I know because I feel it so
                in my pulsing veins
drawn to him, to him I go
Even though my friends it pains

                Abandoned, though, they are not
I shall return to them in time
With him I go to cast my lot
                His blood runs in mine
