Briyan and Sarillia have traveled through Mistone and through the "Civilized" lands, doing odd jobs as to try to get to know how this civilization works. Briyan has been so far unimpressed, as to the forgetfulness and thoughtlessness these folk have towards nature. Since they left the village, they have learned much about nature, including Briyan gaining the ability to break free of his small, halfling form into that of a bear or panther. Perhaps, he thinks, perhaps he can take his link with this alternate form to different levels as to better protect the woods.
