Title: Location Thread: Bitterridge
Post by: Rowana on October 05, 2016, 01:13:39 am
//This thread tracks the goings on in Bitterridge. At the start of this thread Daniel Benjamin and Lana are within the town. Please only post in this thread if your character has traveled to, or very near by, Bitterridge. When your character departs or enters, please make the join/departure clear with IC post.//This is an IC thread, please try to keep all posts IC.Bitterridge, the trade town at the crossroads of Liwich and Boyer, is engulfed by the Wasting Death, much like the other towns and cities of Liwich. With it's borders locked down, the life blood of the city has all but come to a chilling halt. Rofrienites have set up neighborhood clinics to attempt to contain the spread but their resources are already spread quite thin. The mood of the place is defeated already, having gone from disbelief of what was to come, to something low and consigned to what will probably consume them all.
Title: The only response that Daniel
Post by: Rowana on October 06, 2016, 01:03:00 am

The only response that Daniel is able to receive directly from his letter quest is from Moraken. The rest of the letters are left at doorsteps with no verification of delivery beyond that.

In the case of Moraken, a letter was returned hastily, delivered by an assistant.

"To Whom It May Concern:

First off, thank you so much for sending potential plague bearers to my door step. I'll remember it always.

Secondly, I am afraid Dragon Plagues are quite far outside my field of study. My best advise is to not bother with them at all. As well, don't bother with the dragons either. It is my experience that it really doesn't go well to march into someone's home and start punching them with wit or steel.

Your historical context seems somewhat narrow, however. Plenarious did not defeat the last plague outbreak on his own. While I am certain the Great BirdLord was involved, it was a concerted effort by a large number of people. Perhaps you could go find one of the others or just bother talking to the Aeridites themselves. If they will have anything to do with you, that is. It is my understanding that the lot of you are really in deep with a number of people.

Good luck Grand Adventurer!"

Post by: cbnicholson on October 06, 2016, 11:02:56 am

Daniel reads the letter with a slight frown, upon finishing he falls into a short contemplative silence that is broken by a deep rumbling laugh which draws some odd looks from any around him.  He goes to find Lana to share the letter from Moraken.

"At least the old crochety wizard of Hlint answered.  From what I can remember from a distant conversation he had with Storold, the grammer fits." Daniel offers with a slight smile before his expression grow serious again.  "He did answer, so despite the letters tone, clearly he still cares for this world, that is good.   Further, he offers an avenue to explore.  I believe I will seek out the Aerindites of rank here in Bitterridge and see what I can learn."  He pauses to see if she has anything to add.

Post by: Serissa on October 08, 2016, 11:31:09 am

Lana reads the letter and sighs.  "Surely the Aeridinites will welcome help from any source, although I doubt they have any more notion what to do than we have.  Perhaps they still have a way to communicate with North Point by falcon or pigeon.  Do birds get this plague?  You do have some connections there through Rebecca's long residence.  Seems like if anyone knows where to look for a cure, the healers of North Point would.  If nothing else, they'd have records of the last time this happened and how the disease was stopped."

"I'll go with you," she smiles wryly.  "Spread the blame, if nothing else."

Post by: cbnicholson on October 16, 2016, 08:12:12 am

"I already owe them for the treatment of my daughter, Rebecca, my dear." Daniel says slowly, thinking it through, "But yes, It is my hope they will accept my help without blame.  I must ask for their knowledge first and trust that my skills are worthy to the challenge.   As to your question, I do not know if the birds carry this contagion or not, but it seems to me something started the disease that moved fast, birds are certainly suspect.  In any event, I do not think we will be allowed to leave Bitterridge, nor do I think we must.  There must be a Aeridinite healer with some knowledge here, so we start looking."  He offers her a reassuring smile, but cannot hide the pain from all the suffering around them.

//So actions: Locate Aeridinites in Bitterridge if there and start a discussion about the partial cure they are using that seems to work on very early stages of the plague.

Title: When Lana and Daniel first
Post by: Rowana on October 20, 2016, 01:15:34 am

When Lana and Daniel first start asking around, they find that there are no Aeridites present in Bitterridge, though they know that either some passed through or a package from the Aeridites was delivered a week or a little more ago. The package of course contained the successful but only minimally effective treatment for the least ill.

However, a few days later word comes around that Aeridites are indeed on their way to Bitterridge and will be there within the next few days. The rumor is that they are bringing a few of their healers and more of the lesser curing solution to help aid and possibly slow the spread of the plague within Bitterridge.

As suggested, a small group of Aeridites arive. The resplendent group stand out tremendously against the background of depressed and dank Bitterridge now in a constant state of burning and scented by the acridness of burning flesh and the sick. Their handful of members move through the ranks of the neighborhood they are assigned too, healing the healers as much as the sick, with their fresh bodies willing to work a few extra hours so those exposed to the sickness already can take more rest and be more resistant to it’s infection.

The Aeridites too, take audiences, both in preaching the words of comfort and healing to those most in need but also from those seeking their council.

//The conversation that will follow with Daniel and/or Lana can be managed in this thread, or in IRC and reposted upon completion. Please let me know which method you prefer.

Daniel, Lana in tow //If she wishes//, looks for familiar faces among the arriving Aeridites from his frequent dealings at North Point.  Whether he finds a familiar face or not, he will introduce himself to the priest of the most rank.

Daniel (and Lana) do not come across anyone that he knows, though some of the healers are hard to track down given the myriad of duties they are now in the thick of. Additionally not all of them seem to be available at the site Daniel travels to. The senior most healer at their site agrees to see him/them when his shift is complete, though not a moment before. When they arrive in the quiet corner of this small mobile clinic he greets them politely enough for someone who seems rather thin from the day's work.

Daniel pauses to lower his hood then glances at Lana as if in invitation for her to do the same.  "Perhaps the more appropriate question, sir, would be how can we help you? Also, thank you for taking the time to speak to us.   If our faces and bearing do not tell you who we are, I will introduce us, but I think our names are better left unsaid."  He smiles, showing his empty hands." I am certain there are those who would like nothing more than than to see us both swing from a tree or be headless or any manner of gruesome deaths inflicted for our part, but I ask only that you hear us out first.  After that I leave our fate to your judgement."  He pulls his hood back up carefully as he waits for a response.

The priest remains largely impassive. If there's any recognition of who they are he says nothing of it. "As the humans have a fondness of saying, 'I am listening....'" he says with the same tone as his other words.

Title: Daniel shares a quick glance
Post by: cbnicholson on October 24, 2016, 03:26:36 pm

Daniel shares a quick glance with Lana accompanied by a raised eyebrow before he turns back to the Aeridite, "To my first statement, we are here to help.  To this end, I..that is we are offering our expertise in alchemy, enchanting, infusing, and healing towards enhancing your current treatment.  I find myself at a loss as to the methods employed by your order, but I am intriqued. "  Daniel pauses to see how this taken before continuing.  "I also wish to meet any material needs that I may through my affiliation with a trading guild.  I cannot promise, but will do my utmost to meet those needs through persuasion and appeal to my fellows."

Lana nods and says, "I feel sure they will be generous and willing to obtain whatever you need."   She grins just a little.  "Mother can usually light a fire under them, if necessary."

Title: "I see," the Aeridinite
Post by: Rowana on October 26, 2016, 11:36:00 pm

"I see," the Aeridinite answers evenly. "The work on treatments are being done elsewhere at this time, we have not found facilities here that are available to us to make them locally. The processes and proceedures require that we have well funded facilities besides." He pauses and looks the two over for a moment. "Ingredients however, that is our great concern for the moment anyway." The Aeridinite narrows his eyes briefly, clearly an evaluating expression, then steeples his fingers as his hands fold near his waist.

"I do not have the list of ingredients needed to make the Early Cure," he says, seeming to weigh them as he speaks, "But I know that we do not have enough of what is necessary. What's more I know there is a cure that could be made to help any level of illness, appart from those just a short distance from the final crossing. However, we do not have enough of the needed ingredients." He squares his shoulders somewhat, "What exactly did you have in mind to produce these resources if I could get you a list?"

Post by: cbnicholson on October 27, 2016, 08:14:47 am

Daniel's demeanor shifts from one of observation to keen interest and he answers in a low determined tone, "Whatever it takes, sir.  Although.." He pauses considering, "We would need freedom to move about to procure said ingredients.  I do not suppose you could help us with that, could you?  We noticed more than a few guards determined to keep folk put in place getting here, as it were."

Title: Lana says, "We are both
Post by: Serissa on October 27, 2016, 08:56:43 am

Lana says, "We are both willing to help in any way we can, and I know the Angels have helped in other emergencies by offering credit for those bringing in needed materials, as well as by undertaking expeditions to obtain more rare items.  I feel sure they will help, if asked.  In fact, they've already got a sign up in their store alerting people to watch for a list of resources they'll barter to fight the plague."

Title: The priest narrows his eyes
Post by: Rowana on October 29, 2016, 01:54:00 pm

The priest narrows his eyes shrewdly. They shift between the two speakers silently for a moment.

"This is not some elaborate ruse to be allowed to depart while potentially carrying the plague is it?" he asks, calmly despite the accusitory words, "What sort of assurances might you provide? Given the concern you have about your reputation especially, would I not be wise to ask for proof beyond promises? I haven't even told you what might be acquired for our needs..."

"A fair point, I suppose, under the circumstances." Daniel ponders for a time. "What if we agreed to be observed in isolation for say a week before departing? Would that be enough assurance?  I have as a matter of caution been protecting us both for some time with prayers, but as I said earlier, I can only hope such things are adequate."

Lana smiles at Daniel and says, "I'd enjoy having you all to myself for a week."

Then she looks at the priest and says, "You need not even wait to send us.  If you have someone else you can contact to deliver the list, I feel certain the Angels will be eager to help.  They have a long history of providing generous credit for supplies to assist during famines, plagues, and wars.  We can stay to help here, if you think that would be more useful."

"I will agree to the observation," he says after some thought, "But also I would like to have some reassurance that it is all for something. Let me check among those who have been treated successfully and see if I can find a runner. Please write a message that is short enough for them to remember if something should happen to it as it will not likely be a currier who is trained for such things. If the reply is something favorible toward the cause and you show no signs, we will release you to make the arrangments with your Angel's guild persons to see what can be done. As well I will contact whom I need to for a list of what would be helpful to the cause."

Daniel gives Lana a wry look, "Yes, dear, but we will be watched that entire week.  Hardly much fun in that, eh? " He coughs and then considers seriously for a time.  "Your mother, Ferrit, would be the one to contact I should think.  She is, after all, in the words of my father, the one to light a fire under arses.  What message do you think we should send?"

"Hmm," Lana says.  "Something like...Many are dying of this plague, and more are being infected every day.  Please promise this messenger that the Angels will help get supplies for healing the plague and for taking care of victims.

"Is there something useful we could ask them to send now as proof of intent?  Maybe some healing potions?  Blankets and food are too bulky to let the messenger travel quickly."

"I should think Ferrit's word would be enough.  Potions and the like may be premature, unless I am reading our friend here very wrongly, thereare some other items he is more interested in is my guess.  Perhaps a letter of credit would be a better fit?"  Daniel turns to the other priest, "I think we are agreed on the observation, and the sooner your messenger can get word to the Angels Guild, the sooner they and ourselves can get to work, sir. "

"Please remain here," the priest says with a small nod, "I will make the arrangements to begin your observation period." With that, departs from the small area of the meeting near his temporary lodgings. A short time later Lana and Daniel and shown to a tented area near the temporary clinic and asked to remain there for the duration of their observation.

((Assuming neither of them make a break for it and try to escape Bitterridge)) Lana and Daniel are sequestered away in a fairly spartan tent near the clinic, under constant vigil. Most of those whom watch them are occupied with a primary duty in the area, the most common being the washing of supplies. They are brought two meals a day of generally the same things that are provided to the healthier patients.

While the first two days might be seen as something of a break to the pair after the significant amount of work leading up to this point, the sounds and needs outside begin to permeate the tent despite it’s somewhat removed location. Muffled through the walls they hear the priests discussing the growing shortage of hands, the trials of the day or the occasional emotional break down of some of the people working in the presence of the ever dying. Once, there was great celebration a child was born near by, though instantly the medical workers begin discussing how terrible it will be for the child to get infected and trying to dream up ways they could halt any spread to this and other young ones throughout the town.

It isn’t until the fourth day that someone comes by to speak with Daniel and Lana about the lack of messenger. They are told that while a few runners could be found, none could be convinced to leave the side of their loved ones in their moments of need to take this message. The few who might have been swayed to do this task feared members of their family would die before they returned from such a far journey. They are told instead that once they are released from observation, they will need to speak with their people on their own. They are told however, that the temple is sending information soon on the types of ingredients that will be helpful in creating more of the early stage cures.

Daniel, pacing the tent, stops and listens occasionally to the outside voices, before resuming his tread.  Upon hearing the news of no messengers, he nods his acceptance and simply asks, "How much longer must we await then?  Lana and I have felt no ill effects that I can sense and are eager to do what we can."

"You must wait the full term of your quarantine," the answer comes understandingly, "As terrible as things maybe now, spreading the plague to another place, to friends and loved ones, business partners or anyone else would be a terrible burden, not to mention the effects of what would follow...."

"I..understand the complications of early departure, yet perhaps there is something we can do whilst trapped here.  Perhaps bandage making or something along those lines?"

He offers Lana a smile at her songs, occasionally joining her with his amaturish harp plucking to pass the time.  "You know dear, perhaps we could work on some of our combat skills.  That is to say, while I know your worth in a fight, it would not hurt to practice, might even relieve some of the tedium?  We could make a contest of slings or even work on shield skills without risk of injury.  I just feel so useless waiting here.

Though Daniel's line of questioning is certainly appreciated, they are adamant that nothing move in or out of the structure for the time of the quarentine. Food and water are the only exceptions and only due to the necessity.

//As to combat skills, Lana and Daniel find the idea unmanagable in the very limited space provided to them. The tented area only would sleep about 4 people and probably does not allow them enough room to stand full height if either of them is taller than 5'.

Title: During the week long
Post by: Rowana on November 20, 2016, 09:37:03 am

During the week long isolation the pair, for obvious reasons, seek some solace in each other's company. The stress of it seems to take it's tole on Daniel. Perhaps worrying to some, he begins to fatigue during the latter days. While he pushes through well enough and maintains his morale throughout (in so much as one can being trapped helplessly in a tent waiting to become ill, and listening to the dying around him), the fatigue lingers for some days afterwards.

While Lana does not seem to suffer the same fatigue effects, the suffering around her (and perhaps her own helplessness) seems to take it's toll. Her spirit seems to falter sometime in the midweek and she becomes prone to melancholy periods that linger through for some days.

By the time the pair are released with a clean bill of physical health, their emotional states are identifiably altered by even those who do not know them well. While the first steps out into the rest of the world has some bolstering effect, the effects of the time spent lingers on into the days of their travel.

They are escorted directly out of the city by a couple of Rofirienites who maintain a wide margin for the pair so they can escape the city without further risk (in so much as they can guarantee). They are admonished to escape the area as soon as possible and return with haste. Just before departing the camp, the Aeridinites pass them a small scrap of paper with a list of items on them.

Daniel seems to be favoring his right knee again as they make their way with the escort, slowing them both down.  As soon as they are out of earshot of the suffering, he and Lana begin earnest discussions as to the contents of the list given.

Title: With enough supplies to last
Post by: Chuckles_McChuck on November 21, 2016, 09:02:57 pm

With enough supplies to last a couple weeks, the journey to the Dalanthar portal is relatively easy for Lia as she has made the trip many times before.  She pays her due and while in Dalanthar she restocks to cover the rest of her journey to Bitterridge and back, just in case she gets turned around.  She spends the night in Dalanthar for some comfort, food, and wine.  While enjoying the simple pleasures she asks her server if there are any clients within who just came from Bitterridge.  If her server points her to any direction she will ask the individual a few questions, if not her questions will be directed at the server.

“Could yo hinform meh hof Bitterridges current stat?  Hyi’m headin there teh hinvestigate the wastin death hand want teh know what teh hexpect.  Hyi halso have ha list hof names for those who might beh hinvolved, but hit might beh nonsense rumors trickling teh Mistone, hif yeh can help meh hupdate that list has well has the himplications hof their crimes, Hyi would beh grateful.”

When she leaves the next day she sticks closely to the road as she knows how dangerous Dregar can be.  If the journey proves peaceful and she reaches the gates she waits patiently to see how anyone else entering and leaving is treated, and tries to listen in on the conversations if she can.  She also keeps her distance from most people and has a good bit of cloth ready to cover her face with.

Title: As Lia approaches Bitterridge
Post by: cbnicholson on November 28, 2016, 01:21:42 pm

As Lia approaches Bitterridge she sees a familiar tallish man of 6'2" dressed in somewhat archiac greyish robes with a darker hood being escorted out of the village by two priests along with a woman in a light blue hood.  The staff the man is using looks familiar as well as it is being used to assist in his walking.  The two  robed escorts pass the couple a scrap of paper with only a few words spoken between the group and then turn heading back into the stricken village.  If she ventures closer, her suspicions of the man's identity are confirmed by the somewhat poor elvish him and the woman are speaking as they discuss the contents of the parchment in quiet tones.  The conversation stops as soon as they notice her and both turn to watch her approach.  The man makes a motion for her to keep her voice down before she can speak.

Post by: Chuckles_McChuck on December 02, 2016, 06:20:53 pm

As soon as she recognises him, Lia does approach Daniel.  She eyes the note handed to him briefly with a curious expression on her face.  Smiling she nods to Daniel, “Gohd dah Daniel,” then toward Lana, “Gohd dah miss.  Hyi ham Lia.”

Looking back at Daniel she lowers her tone as she speaks, “Rumors spoke hof Rofirein hinvolvement hin helpin thehse people so Hyi should have hexpected yo teh beh hin one hof the hafflicted towns.  Word has rehched Port Hampstead now hof the hissues.  Hare yo hehr with the clergeh hor hare yo hehr representin somethin helse?”

She waits patiently for both their answers then adds when she has room to speak again, “Hyi’ve personally come teh seh the situation for mehself then determine what role Hyi will treh teh plah hin this.”  She looks past them toward the gate, “Seein hit for mehself should give meh greater hinsentive teh treh hand help, but hit might beh behond meh.  Hyi’m not has gohd han halchamist has Hyi was, but mehbeh Hyi will discover something no one helse had.”

"Iracce, Lia" Daniel says in quiet subdued tones.  "Apologies for the asking of discretionary tones, but there are those behind us I cannot trust with our real identity." He gestures to the woman at his side, "My wife, Aylana , or Lana as she prefers to be addressed.  Aye, we have just come from Bitterridge and if I may offer counsel - If I were you, unless you wish to become trapped there, I would not enter." He waits several moments, as if waiting for either of them to offer more words.

Post by: Chuckles_McChuck on December 09, 2016, 12:28:28 pm

Due to the natural ease of speaking in her native tongue, Lia decides to continue in Elvin, “Rumors spoke of a few areas affected, such as Lewich Castle and the Redferns.  The Redferns should be small enough to not keep me locked inside, but I don’t think I have enough supplies to make the trip and back.”

“If I proceed that way I would prefer to not go empty handed, perhaps we can trade some information.  Rumors spread that the Regent of Hurm swore an oath to make those responsible be held accountable for their actions and names were being called out.  I tried to acquire the aforementioned names, but I’m unsure of the accuracy of such rumors reaching as far as Port Hempstead.  I wrote them all down though; perhaps you recognise some of the individuals or at least heard of them.”

“Anything you can tell me about this Wasting Death would be appreciated.  What it is, where it came from, and most of all is there a cure?”

//I’m thinking we continue this via PM adding a GM to see the conversation so we don’t flood the forum with our chat.

Title: Daniel nods, patiently
Post by: cbnicholson on December 10, 2016, 01:21:46 pm

Daniel nods, patiently digesting Lia's request and memorizing the names she offers before replying in his accented elvish, "I confess, Lana and myself were present at the onset of these troubles and their cause lies firmly with us and our party's actions in slaying the Black Dragon.  It could be argued that this plague is pure revenge on the Dragon's part, but the Gold does not deal in revenge, only justice, so I will let that be for now.   For my part I have felt the ire of my order and have since endeavored to do what I can to aid those afflicted both personally and," He shows Lia the scrap of parchment bearing the list of ingrediants, "as a member of a trade organization we will be putting out the call for these materials. This is not a cure but an early treatment mind you, but it is reasonably effective if the plague is caught early in the victim."  Daniel also shares the rumors he has heard and semi confirmed from his travels. // http://layonara.com/threads/10164349-heralds // .  "Now, if you wish to reveal myself and attempt to collect some manner of bounty from Hurm for my capture, I will not resist you, but I do think Lana might object.  I caution you, she is not someone you wish to trifle with."  The last line is said with more than touch of dry humor and Lia is quite certain it's Daniel's attempt at a bad joke, but perhaps the look on Lana's face tells it differently.

Lana looks at Lia narrowly.  "You have no idea what happened below; how hard we tried to avoid a fight.  One man's hubris caused this debacle, but I shall not name him.  If you want that bounty for our capture though, there will most certainly be a fight here and now."

Lana taps her tambourine gently, saying a few words.  The tambourine begins to glow, vibrate and jingle, revealing old blood (?) stains...

Post by: Chuckles_McChuck on December 12, 2016, 08:13:10 pm

Lia listens intently as Daniel imparts with her his involvement that lead to our current situation.  At first she looked surprised, but her expressions eventually move more toward consideration and contemplation (there is a hint of a smile on her lips as well).  When he offers to let her bring him in to the authorities, hinting that it would also be under the duress of Lana, Lia raises a brow appearing slightly confused.  She backs off quickly when Lana continues the conversation with her threats, and then Lia raises an arm slowly and motions the two to stop as she shakes her head.

In elven, “I have no intention to bring you in; I never had the intention to bring anyone in.  Knowledge is what I’m seeking and who better to get it from then those who caused this plight.”  Giving him a slightly perplexed look she continues, “You have at least accepted some accountability for your actions if you are willing to let me bring you in, whether or not that was my intent.  You know very well I couldn’t by force, but at the same time here you are.  What is stopping you from just bringing yourself in?  Is it because you think you would be more useful dealing with the aftermath?”

A dark thought invades her mind concerning the clear threat from him as well concerning Lana, ‘Not very noble of him to justify his lack of resolve through her’, her attention then moves to Lana, “Another’s Hubris you say?  Could you give that individuals name?”

She continues as if speaking to both of them, “This is beginning to make a lot more sense to me, with the minor exception that the power dragons possess are well beyond my comprehension and thus the workings of this plague… by the Pits, I still haven’t even seen its effects yet.  If what you say is true and you have successfully slain this Black Dragon, then how is this plague in effect?  Who would punish these lands on its behalf?  Is it possible to consider that you might not have finished the job as previously assumed and it is the Black Dragon itself that created this plague?”

She takes a deep breath before continuing, “I’m no expert, but you might want to consider revisiting its lair and if it happens to still be alive or you find whoever is causing this, perhaps plead for mercy for these people.”  There is a slight pause, “Tell me, do you know anyone who might be an expert on the subject of dragons that I might be able to converse with or the location of a library that could bear books containing anything about dragons?”

Finally she considers the list of ingredients, “I’m still planning to visit the Redferns temporarily to see this for myself.  Any chance you have a small batch of these early treatments that I can bring with me?  Due to its size I’m guessing the Redferns might be having the least amount of help right now.  I’m sure procuring even a small amount might bring some optimism in that small town.”

Title: Daniel first puts a hand on
Post by: cbnicholson on December 13, 2016, 09:46:17 am

Daniel first puts a hand on Lana's shoulder, mostly to stop her from brandishing her tamborine and to kiss her cheek in appreciation, then nods, "Forgive my poor joke, for clarification I did submit myself to the only authority I recognize fully, my superior, Justicar Reus of Vehl.  I gave him my full report.   He had words for me I will not repeat here, but clearly he felt my usefulness in this matter weighed more than a corpse swinging from a giblet.  As for the Black, we believe he survived his death perhaps in the same manner we stonebound do, or perhaps through older magic, we are not certain.  As for the name of the man of hubris, tis a short list named and you are a clever elf.  Do not ask me to betray friendship so bluntly."

Daniel considers her thought of revisiting the Dragon then shakes his head, "I had a similiar idea myself some time ago, but from my experience, evil such as this rarely is pacified or dealt with in good faith to any good end.  It is only emboldened by what it sees as weakness.  If I thought my own death or sacrifice would allay this trajedy, I would go without hesitation, but as I said, I do not think this the outcome.  As for Redferns, I have heard some prelimary reports, more rumor than not.  If you truly seek to aid that town,  send word to North Point asking for the treatment.  Offer to bring it yourself if you wish to risk your life."

She nods weighing everything she hears then adds in Elvin, "Risk my life?  I assume you mean the journey is dangerous, otherwise you think there is risk that I contract this disease myself by exposing myself to it.  If the later, I knew the risks before coming here, if the former..."

She smiles slightly and begins to rock back and forth on her feet, attempting to look as amiable as possible, "I'm sure either of you can handle yourselves individually out here.  Perhaps one could continue on the task you set out to achieve here while the other escorts me to assist with the Redferns?"

"I still have a few questions that could be answered while we are on the road."

"As to the danger, aye, on both counts, but foremost the exposure to the plague.  As for an escort.." Daniel ponders for a while, sharing a look with Lana before continuing in elvish, "I am needed back in Mistone as soon as possible, Lia. This is a simple truth, but perhaps the smarter of us will go with you, I cannot say."

Title: A confounded expression
Post by: Chuckles_McChuck on January 12, 2017, 08:39:04 pm

A confounded expression reaches Lia’s face after hearing both replies.  After a moments silence Lia breaths deeply while pulling her hair back.  Speaking in Elven, “Perhaps a Change in plans then.  North Point is near the coast, maybe I can get a ship there.”

She then looks to Daniel, “If I can convince Hurm’s authorities to send a ship to North Point to get some of the treatment that is already there, will those at North Point cooperate?  Also, how much is already made up there?”

She smiles slightly as she continues, “Maybe to sweeten the deal, I could request on the Angel’s Guild behalf.” Her expression now derisive, “Since neither of you should enter the town yourselves.” Clearing her throat, she continues, “About providing ships for transporting what the guild will make.  I am assuming of course that is why you have a list of ingredients.  Oh, could I make a copy of that list for myself before we part ways?”

“Of course, I’m not of the guild.  So you will need to provide me with some guidelines on what the Angels Guild’s terms are on this matter, if you desire my assistance of course.  You might want to give me points of offer as well, just in case they aren’t entirely cooperative.”  Her expression now stern as she looks between the two of them, her voice low as if meant only to herself, but the words come out intelligible, “Because it appears my ability to convince people to do what I want has diminished.”

She then smiles at them both and waits for a reply.

Title: Daniel's expression is one of

Daniel's expression is one of consternation as he replies in elvish, "You misunderstand, the reason I am in needed in Mistone is to coordinate supplies, there is no agreement with specifics as of yet.  North Point may have extra cure for Redferns, I cannot say, nor can I guarantee their cooperation in providing such.  If they treat with myself and the Angels Guild at all it is because we have a history together.  If you wish a copy of my list, I will gladly provide it, but as you can see that is all it is, a list of ingrediants, no contacts, no arrangements.  These matters are still to be determined."  He continues with a somewhat softer tone, "I believe you mean well and seek direction.  I wish I had more to give you, but these events are still uncertain and I have no wisdom to offer."  He pauses then seems to consider something, "I do thank you this thought.  We will need a liason with North Point to coordinate delivery of any supplies we are able to give.  Do go to North Point and see what they say on the matter.  I may meet you there at a later date or await word in Hempstead.  Dragon shelter you, Lia."

Title: Replying in Elven, "My

Replying in Elven, "My concern is primarily the safety of the journey to North Point.  I doubt many bandits would be on the roads between the afflicted towns, otherwise risking their own contamination.  Perhaps I will just take a chance on it and hope for the best.  I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to help avoid danger.”

With a quill and her book out she prepares herself to write, “I would still like this list of ingredients, might prove useful while I’m still on Dreger.  Also, any points you would like me to add when I speak to those in charge at North Point?  Such as anything you can impart to me that would help me convince them to help.”

She writes down everything from the list he hands her and after handing it back to Daniel, she begins her journey to North Point.
