Drops Hiatus
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:04:27 pm »
I was just wondering, did the drops get dropped? We were traveling for some time, beat down a bunch of bigger-then-us bad guys (not saying a lot since it was halflings and a dwarf), and not a single drop...for hours (gold, cure potions, and bandages excluded).  Are they going to come back, being revised, gone forever...?

I have been thinking much the same thing after my latest excursions with others between Ft. Thunder and Great Forest. The loot is less than inspiring I must say with a focus on coin drops (around 50 pieces) every third kill or so.

This is not the result of a known administrative decision.

The server settings for drops have the rates set as they've been set, so that at least hasn't changed. We'll have to check things out in-game to see what the state of things are.

Did this just start happening?

Does anyone know if it affects all creatures or just the higher-level ones?

I was fighting giants in the Forest of Fog last night and there was hardly even any gold dropped, so I think it might be across the board.  I think it started with the Bonus Event, but I'm not sure if it was when it started or ended.  I wasn't paying attention then.

I have noticed it playing Charm (high end) and Kenzie (low end), but more so with the low end. It has been fairly recent. I ran Charm through the forest, desert and the rift to check before posting and found hardly anything.

Don't think it's started with the Bonus Event. There have been plenty of items looted on trips with both Plen and Jay.  In fact I'm almost certain there were items looted on the last Plot Quest in The Mistone Deep too. That is the current module, nothing has changed in that.

NP!  Like I said, I wasn't actually paying attention too much, but I do remember going out last night and thinking that we've robbed the giants too much because they were very very poor.

I have noticed that there has been drop lag. It has taken 5 seconds approximately for drops it CNR to appear on bodies.

I'd say the light drops have been going on for some time.  I've noticed it mostly in the great forest, where it used to be that you could go out with a party for a couple hours and come back with some nice trinkets; now you're lucky to come back with maybe some bandages, a red potion and maybe some banded mail.  It's hard to pin-point, but it does seem like the drops have become less frequent.

We're looking more into it

We're looking more into it but what it may be is that the creatures are now equipping (due to better AI) the goodies that are meant for loot and they're not dropping once equipped.

AHA! Finally a good use for the pickpocket skill! A chance to forage loot off a body, like rangers do food?

Eh?
