Title: Strange start locations
Post by: KageKeeper on August 21, 2005, 02:06:00 pm
This is not a huge deal for me, but it is not normal so I thought I would post about it.

It has happened numerous times lately that I do not start where I ended or I am not ported where I should be.

The first instance was the 17th or 18th I believe. I had ended the prior evening near Karthy and when I logged in I was in the Forest of Summons.

Next instance, I want on an excursion with Rhizome, Brisbane, Plen, Remiel, Lue and Ozy and we ended in the Fort of Last Hope on east. Next time I logged in I was on the docks in Arabel. So I took a ship and should have been in Karthy, but when I logged into West I was again in the Forest of Summons. I used the emergency teleporatin system and went to Hlint, rested and exited.

I logged in today for L's quest and was again in the FoS. I used the teleporation to go to Central and was supposed to be in Pranzis and was instead ported to Lorindar. (Which is where I wanted to be, so it was convenient, but that's not the point.) :)

Anyway, there you go.

Thanks!

And this evening, after the two quests on Central I participated in, I went back to Lorindar and hopped a ship to Karthy.

Once more I was at the Forest of Summons.

I rested this time in the Ranger's Vale in the Sielwood, we will see tomorrow where I start at.

:)

Next time you log on in the forest of summons, walk through like you did when you first made your character. The gem of rememberance will keep your items, and this may help fix the problem

I know there was a similar problem long ago.

I load the forest of summons sometimes, but it always loads the correct area right afterward.

Sometimes it is a tad late, and once I had enough time to get a quick glimpse of the dragon.   ;)

Heh what you need to do is rest or use your orb more often, those save your characters position for when the server resets and has a nice spot ready for you to land in.

This generally happens after the server is reset.  The module's start location is in the Forest of Summons, so that's where everyone defaults when the server resets.  However, we manage your last saved location in the database, so soon after you log in, you are ported to that location.

I had some strange start locations under Ael CDQ the other day aswell. I sailed to hurm and ran up to the group and rested atleast a few times during the period untill the server crashed but when i logged back in I started in Hurm again, rested again then i think it was the Jacc's death scene that forced me to log out and when i logged back in again I was in Lorindar.

Lorindar is the default start location for Central.
There were just so many strange technical glitches that day....ugh.
