White Stag, Tailors Pool
« on: February 08, 2005, 05:43:00 pm »
Went to attempt adding the double swords to the back of my White Stag Hide Armor and it popped up a rather nasty DC. So I figure, ok, no swords, lets add it to the belt instead, another nasty DC, allright, lets try just modifying the left shin, that's usually about a dc 3 or 6 right? Wrong...So I fired a message through the dm channel and Otaking said to take a snap and post it to see if anyone else gets this problem. I did try crafting the item but it just spits out: *Success not possible*

Update: I had nostros put my armor on and try modify the neck, he said he also got a high dc, he said he got 65. Not sure what's wrong with it, we tried it in the crafting station in Pranzis so I know it's just not me.

Im guessing it has some weird connection to the classes that are allowed to use the suit... bumping up the DC for each class allowed or something weird like that.

*shrugs*

it shouldnt be any harder to modify than any other suit with the same level requirements.

The guys will figure it out I'm sure.

Basically the system makes an old copy of your armor and compares it to the new one and calculates the DC for all the changes.  For some reason the copy of the white stag armor seems to make the system think that every thing has changed on it.  No idea why.  If you really want a new look for it, then ask a friendly GM if they have the time.

I did, props to Ghost for doing it for me and providing me with about 10 minutes of splitting laughter from his voiceset.

I noticed that there is only 2 classes not included in the armor's restriction, the druid and the ranger. Maybe changing it so it's just "not usable by" instead of all the other classes having it as "usable by" might be a bit better? Mind you that's just nit picking and something that can be pushed aside for a long time until the content team is caught up with more pressing issues.

Thanks again.

Yeah, good idea and it might help--not sure but it might.

hey now get your props where they belong....  :P

that was me acting all nutty when I changed your armor.

Also 3 classes should be missing: Druid, Ranger, Paladin

When Hito and I made the armor we did not see a choise of "Not useable by" so we jsut made it usable by everyone but those 3.

I thought you were the same person...g/ghost/guardian...BLAH whoops Sorry bud. Too many 'g's' around methinks. And it _should_ be nothing more than a simple mod in the toolset to fix. Unless you guys are doing some wonky stuff in there.

Not Usable by: Good and Druid is easiest.  That nixes the paladins and all with good faith.  Since the white stags are endangered, probably even evil druids wouldn't mess with them either.  Beware the misconceptions that all rangers are friendly treehuggers though... some can be depraved enough to hunt unicorns for pelts.  They don't necessarily love the wilds... they just live there.

I roared in triumph when 2nd edition died and took with it the "Any Good" req for rangers.  Malar soon spawned a good legion of human and elf hunters in my PnP sessions.  Heads were skewered on pikes and dryads were cut in two.

Fixed in next update.  The restrictions were removed and a clear IC and OOC warning was given in the Armor's description.
