Wildshape: Dual wield

When you have a parasol of shock redirection in the main hand and a mahagony weapon in the off hand you do not get the +2 enhancement bonus from the mahagony weapon in wildshape.  I do not have any elemental rods on the mahagony weapon so I do not know if that would apply when shifted.

In my experience it would be unlikely to get a weapon benefit from the off-hand in shifted form, but perhaps others may know different, so I would not apply an enhancement to the mahogany weapon to use in such a way.

Although, putting it on the mahogany weapon to use in the main hand is still a good idea ;)

This is the description from Greater Wildshape, but I imagine the druid wildshape applies the same way as the shifter greater version from NWN Wiki:

"Item merge:

Weapon is any melee weapon in the main hand slot.

Items are those in the ring slots, amulet slot, cloak slot, boots slot, or belt slot.

Armor is the item in the armor slot, plus a shield if in the off-hand slot and anything in the helmet slot.

The gloves or bracers slot and the ammunition slots never merge.

Rules of thumb:
        Has a weapon? Merges all.
Unarmed, stands on two legs? Merges items & armor.
Unarmed, four or more legs? Merges armor only.
Exceptions to the rule are epic manticore, spectre, death slaad lord, stone golem, and demonflesh golem.

Because only the properties of the items are taken, and the item is "removed" and unavailable in the shifted form, any penalties from armor, such as penalties on skills, do not apply when shifted. This also means that a druid/shifter/monk who had been wearing armor or using a shield prior to shifting will have their special abilities reinstated because they will no longer be wearing armor or using a shield.

All AC bonuses become deflection bonuses, and only the highest applies.

If there are multiple bonuses to an ability score, only the highest applies. For example, if the shifter was wearing elven boots (+2 dexterity), a belt of agility +2 (+2 dexterity), and bracers of agility +3 (+3 dexterity), the final dexterity bonus on the shifted form is +2: the elven boots and belt of agility do not stack, and the bracers in the glove slot do not merge at all."

So it makes sense you don't get any bonus from the offhand weapon, since only the main slot merges into the shape for weapon.

Layonara staff have modified the merging of items.

Also, any(I think I have checked them all) shape gets magic/bonus properties from shield, mainweapon, armor and helmet on default nwn settings. Going by my own experience. Highest ac bonus is used for an AC deflection modifier. The other things mentioned in previous post  I have not verified.

(parasol can only be used in main hand, I was not aware of that when I bought it)

I can answer most questions regarding forms and shapes.

If you have a specific one, ask it.

As to this one, your off hand weapon will transfer none of its bonuses to your form.

Layonara staff have modified the merging of items.

We have, but that doesn't make your perceptions of how things should work correct.

Here's the comprehensive list of items that can be merged taken from our specific modifications to the wildshape/polymorph scripts:
  • Right hand (main weapon)
  • Chest (armor)
  • Left and Right ring
  • Neck (amulet)
  • Cloak
  • Boots
  • Belt
  • Head (helmet)
  • Left Hand (shield ONLY)
  • Bracers/Gloves
  • Hide (subrace/creature properties)
For clarity, only shields are merged when in the secondary (left) hand. Secondary weapons are not merged. Ever.

Note also that not all forms will merge weapons, armor and items.  These can be specified on a per-shape basis given in polymorph.2da. Don't ask me for a translation or a how-to. That information is available freely all over the place.

There are typically two phases to the wildshape/polymorph process.  First is an adding of stackable properties from the list given above. These properties are:
  • Ability bonus/penalty
  • AC bonus/penalty
  • Skill bonus/penalty
  • Saving throw bonus/penalty vs. Element or Universal
  • Saving throw bonus/penalty specific (will/fortitude/reflex)
  • Regeneration
  • Damage immunity/vulnerability
Note that damage/attack/AC vs. race/alignment is not included in this list.

The second phase is copying over weapon, armor and item properties.  The important thing to note here is that offensive/damage bonuses from gloves or bracers are copied only of the character is otherwise unarmed at the time.

Once more, it is very important to remember that not all forms will copy weapon, armor and/or item properties.  They can vary from form-to-form and a form that copies armor may not copy weapons or items.  Therefore, there are no universal truths to what merges and what does not.  If you want to know, go delving through polymorph.2da in our "ctrl" HAK file.

Narrowing it to the specific example that started the thread, off-hand weapons are never merged. Only shields are merged in the off-hand slot.
