Its it feasible to play Layonara in the UK?
    « on: September 27, 2005, 07:00:00 am »
Hi - I'm a newbie to Layonara (and a relative newbie to NWN, though not to role-playing in general, nor D&D), and am interested in participating in Layonara, but am unsure if this is feasible as I'm based in the UK (i.e. which is in the GMT+0 timezone...) and work full-time, so would only be able to play in the evenings (I think 8pm in New York is 1am here...) and some weekends - will there still be things to do at these times of day? Are there many UK or other European players? Thanks

    F.

We have a pretty good base of European players.

There are quite a number of European players here. I think we have at least six or seven active Danish players. Quite a few people are from the UK and countries such as Sweden, France and the Netherlands are also well represented (as well as a number of other countries).

A number of DM's are from GMT or GMT plus one so there also quests in the GMT evenings. Including the infamous Orc Quest by Harlas (*winks*).

       :)

I mostly log on at the times you mentioned, on some ocasions there have been 30 + people around at that time of night. We have lots of people from all over europe playing, and quite a few from the UK (i can think of 8 regulars off the top of my head). Its a great place, and definitely worth a look.

Often people come here with little or no knowledge of NWN, but they soon pick up the basics, and folks here are very tolerant and friendly.

      Look forward to meeting you.

Okay, cool. Think I will start a character as soon as I can get HoTU (I only have the OC and SoA at the moment, and if I'm reading things correctly I need HoTU as well?) BTW I'm on a Mac, I presume this isn't a problem as far as playing Layonara goes?

Great, a tolerant and friendly place for role playing (and some action :) ) is what I'm looking for, rather than powergaming kill-fests...

        Thanks

for any RPG PC game as the grate Leanthar runs a very good RP world and there are some top noch GMs looking after you.
Also the players are very matuer as a hold and come down hard on grafing, Min Max and Munchinks.

The servers been around for some years which means there a very good time line and back ground to the world
which is tightly writen in the hand bood, Leanthar you should think about doing a D20 book with Monguse cuz have have some good stuff here.

I started some weeks back with a Half Gaint and had a garte time,
I think like me you hard about this from the tradinal RPG's say RPG.net its been talked about there.

Great, sounds like my sort of place! :-)

Also, from what I read elsewhere on the site, I like the fact that there aren't magic items scattered all over the place, in stead they're something special, and that you have to team up with others to do most quests

Will do, just need to get hold of HoTU first (have just ordered it from Amazon) before I can start playing...

I only read the first post as I am a VERY lazy person, just getting back from writing and reading all day at college, so sorry if someone else has already said this.
I'm from the UK(England) and you'll find me on till around 1:30am (GMT) as all of the good RP and adventures start later in the evening when moer people are on, I find is quite quiet during the day so is a good time to craft, but the night time is where it all happens. (I know, i stayed up til 4am last week. Didn't notice the time)

(on a different note, if you don't like grumpy people who will hardly help you, avoid Zeos and especially Aleister. Thank me later *winks*)
