I don't know what I should do. So, naturally, I turn to the Layonara community for output.
A family member has come forth to me and admitted that they have been doing drugs, particularly marijuana, on and off for the past two years. They claim to have been clean for a few months now, but I don't know how reliable that information is. I don't know how reliable this is, considering this family member had several inconsistancies in the confession/private conversation we had.
Do I tell other family members? Do I let them know that they have done this in the past, or do I keep quiet and see how things turn out? I don't want this family member to screw up their life any more than they already have. They're just a kid, still. They have their whole life ahead of them; they had potential, amazing potential, and could have done anything, but they're throwing their life away with addictive substances. I really do want to keep this person safe from that world as much as I can because they mean a lot to me. I really do love and care for this person.
But, quite frankly, I don't know what to do. I can barely make sense of it all as it is. It's mind blowing when you find out a family member has been doing this stuff and you never even knew it. Hurtful too, that they would disrespect you enough to do it behind your back. I don't want to see them go through the hell I went through for even being in close contact with these substances. My life was seriously ravaged by temptation. Why should this family member have to throw their life away by doing the drugs?
I hate the complications of society. I hate it and want it to end.
