The problem is the method of enforcement. We have a do-not-call list here in the US, and FCC rules about unsolicited telephone advertisements... the problem is that you generally can't file class action suits against the telemarketing companies, no individual cares enough to file a suit (and it's not like you're going to recoup legal fees by doing so), and the fines aren't used independently of a law suit...Our regulations have helped, but not so much as one might hope.good luck to Canada, I hope you do better than we have down here...
and yet, people care enough to sue McDonalds because some woman spilt her "Obviously" Hot coffee in her lap while driving.... *tsk tsk*
Suing about everything is part of being an AMERICAN and anyone who says otherwise is a dirty communist.
Which is ironic, because lawsuits are all based off the principle of re-distribution of wealth.
Now if only they enforced the list by tracing the signal to the origin of the call, then relaying that geographical location to the Star Wars project. Fines only scare away the small companies without ample legal departments. Death lasers from space? No more calls from Alderaan!
