My ranger/rogue (level 7/3) has several scrolls of spells that rangers can cast, both of the level of spells she can cast, and some of higher level. She also has a few points in UMD, which lets her use stuff that she normally couldn't use because of class restrictions. She's tried using the scrolls of spells she could cast if she had them memorized, but there's a UMD check (against a DC too high for her to possibly meet) and the spell fails.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Is there a requirement for using scrolls besides being able to cast spells? Does having points in UMD remove any ability to use scrolls that you normally could use? Is this a known bug that everyone but me knows about? Is there a way for my character to use scrolls (besides putting lots of points in UMD)?
While I'm on the subject, what is the requirement for using scrolls? If my character was a pure ranger (10th level), could she use scrolls of 3rd level ranger spells like Blade Thirst? How about for spells that are 3rd level of ranger, but lower level for others (like Aid)?
