couple questions for a possible new char
    « on: July 19, 2005, 12:16:00 pm »
Are their very many Duergar in Layo? I don't think I have seen many but their are allot of dwarves and some could be gray dwarves the I don't know are. Also is their is a low number of them, and they are disliked (or should be much like the drow) can they become a dwarven defender?

I have been thinking about some long term goals and I don't think either of my chars at the moment will really last infact one of them was never intended to go really far, she has a definate set goal and once accopmlished she would retreat back to the forest only reappearing when called for or needed.

What I have been thinking of is a warrior type. Not a class I play much and I really don't want to be the typical warrior or berserker. As such barb is out, I think their are quite a few monks running around now. I can do a pali but perfer not to as I am not totaly comoftable with the diety panthion of who likes or dislikes who, so I would pry end up helping my Gods enemy and thats not good. That leaves fighter as the last real fighter option (rangers and rogues don't count). I want a noble defender type but not dedicated to a god like a pali or really noble. Thinking LN for alignment.  And dwarf for dwarven defender. BUt I noticed the hand book says dwarven defenders are limited in number and so are some sub races as they are rare. Oh and do Gray dwarves have to be male? The player handbooks say people only know of the males because women don't trade or fight. But if they exile anyone thats not evil surly a exiled female would have to pick up a trade.

So are any slots open for Gray dwarves and any slots for DD?  If not I will go back to the drawing board and try to think up a decent human fighter concept.  Or just scratch the fighter totaly and try to modify my Sorc to something more playable on Layo.

    Thanks

There is not very many...I have seen none of them, but I have heard of a few.

I don't think they tend to get along well with normal dwarves, or svirfneblin (there are few of those here too). I'm not completely sure though.
