Crafting skills - help
«

Fishing - check. Can do that.
All others, read the books and cards, still stuck on the actual game mechanics part. I know I should be asking players ingame to show me. But noone ever seems to be crafting in Hlint (and I'm too weak to go far).
Any help on any of the crafting skills would be apreciated.

I think Sakura changed that post recently, its a detailed list of lesser scribing recepies now.
Every craft (excluding fishing) involves putting stuff (the ingredients) on a bench, sometimes while having a tool equiped and/or tools in your inventory specific to the craft.
Each bench is a container. When you put anything in and close it, it will start a dialogue with you listing the various things you can craft. Clicking on them will tell you the recepie.
When the requisite ingredients for any recepie are in the bench that recepies lettters will be green letting you know that you can make it. you then click on it, and click craft.
And dont complain about not knowing the recepies. None of the rest of us did either. Go explore IG!

Thanks
I wouldn't complain about not knowing recipes! I like finding that out.
The description of what to do is what I was after. Thank you sooo much.
As for the lack of people crafting ..."it's true I tell ya". Must be my graveyard shift UK times that put me on when the halls are vewy quiet (I'm hunting wabbits?)
Appreciate the help though.

um - in hlint again - noone crafting. Not able to work out how to make a mold. Noone to ask. Tried outside city, not surprisingly people not interested in explaining, cos I'm bored out of my tree.
I know that the "fun" is in asking others. But not if the others are either not there, or not interested. I mean it's not like knowing what to do for a trade skill is going to suddenly make me rich or unbalance the game. It would mean I could play the game, rather than wandering around scenery and badgering folk.
Please, help if you can. Maybe start off telling me how to make an arrow?
Cos I am beginning to feel a little lonely. *sob*

How to make an arrow: CRFTNG/104
Collect feathers from various areas around Hlint. Raven and falcon are close. To the west, north and east of Hlint is where you can find them. (Must have skinning knife.)
Smelting
-Collect copper or other metal (Goblin’s cave and will need a heavy pick)
-Put nugget into public furnace at the smith’s
You now have an ingot.
Tinkering
-Collect clay (Lake Alon and need a shovel)
-Put in Tinkering Furnace to make a small mold (need tinkering tools)
-Put small mold and an ingot of copper or other metal into tinkering machine.
You may now have arrowheads.
Wood crafting
-Collect hickory or other wood (Hlint North Outskirts and need a woodcutting axe)
-Put into the carpenter’s bench (need carpenter’s tools)
-Make the shaft for missile weapons
You now have arrow shafts.
Wood crafting
-Put feather, wooden missile shafts, and arrowhead on Fletcher’s bench.
You now have arrows.
Easy! Oh, by the way, anywhere in this process you can fail and lose everything. It is not a perfect world.
I think I have mentioned everything. Good luck!

omg.
*swoon*
Thank you so much for your fabulous arrow making help. I realise how poor my knowledge was. I would definately given up before I worked all that out. But now I can do it! My firstborn is yours.
And thank you too, for the name checks, for those I can ask in-game about crafting. That will really help my confidence.
Not only have you all made it much easier for me to engage with Layonara. You have also made my day!
(if you check you will find I have used 3 apostrophies! - now that is one excited bunny)
Thanks again.

Twidget658,
Care to make a starter guild just like you did for arrows for a few more crafting skills? We can get that on the forums and in the handbook and it will help players quite a lot.
Thanks and good job on that one.

grrrrrr.....wasted 4 hours crafting collecting copper which was really tricky for a poxy ranger who can't rest anywhere apart from the "safe spot". I hate crafting.
I hate the fact that it wastes my time for hours and I hate it that I will be back doing it again.
Noooooooooooooooo....
Seriously though.. the above post about a guild is a definate good idea. I tested the arrow making teachers methods and, despite the numbers giving me grief, it worked and I understand.
Ironically I have been casting in RL and the % chances are way to low. Inexperience doesn't mean failure and loss of all materials (though it can) it generally means it takes LONGER.
But I digress.......
Would love a guild...WOULD LOVE GUILD LED TRIPS TO GET MATERIALS TOO.....cos the copper trips are hell, especially when there are so many opportunities to fail in making.
(If making arrows was this hard there would be no arrows anywhere. I mean I have to use about 200 arrows to get 10 lumps of copper. If I'm lucky I may get 20-40 arrows out of this).

Always was looking for the help as well, so here goes.
How to make a bow:
Raw Materials needed
- Wood (Hickory North of Hlint and Oak in Broken Forest) (need axe)
- Spider Silk (Sielwood Forest)
- Sand (Lake Alon - East of Hlint)
- Gum arabic (West of Blackford Castle) (could also be north) **will check and correct
Cooking
- Get some sawdust 2 bags (use wood crafting to get sawdust)
- Get a water bucket (buy from innkeeper)
- Go to the inn's kitchen
- Fill the water bucket and use the press to create paper
- Take paper to the baker's oven and create scroll
- Take scroll and add sand (3 pieces) and gum arabic (1 piece) and put in baker's oven
- Result is Sandpaper
Tailoring
- Take spider silk (2 pieces) and use tailor needle (need sewing kit)
- Result bow string
Wood crafting
- Take wood and sandpaper to carpenter bench (need carpenter tools)
- Create short stave
- Use short stave and bow string
- Result Short Bow
If you want to make a Long bow create Long stave
Easy....yeah right....you will have to practice hard. I nearly chopped the whole wood of in Hlint before I got my first short bow.
If I figure it out I will post how to make a composite bow.
Regards
Jacchri

Thanks aragwen, I have copied your post to the cnr area.
I would like to see a potion how to and an armor or sword how to... then I think we have enough to give a lot of helpful clues on how to get started in crafting. Thanks everybody!

I think Leanthar meant a starters guide not guild. Creating a guild takes time, people and some gold. Hard to do with fresh meat...er new players
