I wish more people were like that, but 30% of the time some authority figure has a psychotic episode and starts screaming, "Sir? SIR!  You're going to have to leave now!"  "but I just.. "  "SIR? SIR!  That's it, last warning!"  "wanted to give h..."  "RESPECT MY AUTHORITIE!!!" *tases everybody in a 60' radius*

Just try this stunt in an airport today.  Or a college campus.  Of course that could just be down here in Florida.  In Canada and Europe people are a whole lot nicer, from my experience.  Like I bumped into a guy in a bar which made him spill his beer on my shoes, and he apologized and bought me a beer even though it was my fault!  We hung out, drank and played pool.  If this had happened in Central Florida where I live, I would have likely been shot or stabbed, or at the very least bitten.

I think a large portion of the ailing human condition has to do with population density and the heat.  So much traffic, so many people and you feel miserable 8 months out of the year with the 90 degree+ weather we have.  There was a criminology/sociology study about population density and heatwaves and their effect of violent crime, and both factors cause the latter to skyrocket.

To me, it looks like most of the people in this video who see him are too frightened and timid, that society has beaten and trained them into a state of perpetual anxiety.  They scurry out of the way for the most part and avoid eye contact, too scared to look him in the face and say no thanks, too untrusting to let somebody they dont know hug them.  Something in our culture is really messed up when a species becomes terrified by itself.  I salute this longhair and his quest to break down social barriers.

Ah, just found this news article about how middleschoolers are no longer even allowed to give and recieve hugs.  The school claims that this was done over a tardiness issue... "students were late to class because they were hugging in the halls".  Wow... so rather than hand out detentions for tardiness on a case by case basis, they outlawed all human contact.  I wouldn't be so annoyed by this if it was a private school funded by religious extremists, but no... this idiocy is maintained by our tax dollars and without our approval.
