Title: Hannah Cole
Post by: miltonyorkcastle on May 09, 2007, 08:07:37 pm: In case any of you were wondering where ole' Milty's been the last few days...

Monday, 05/07/2007, at 4:41 pm CDT, Hannah Cole Gilchrest was born. She weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz (not sure what that translates to in kilograms), and she was 20 1/2 inches long.

Two days later, we're both wiped out. And neither of us did the pushing.

Hannah's the little bulge of blankets sleeping on top of me in the attached photo.

You must be exhausted, sure the moms have to do all that pushing/agony/tearing/screaming misery thing but I think most people underestimate the difficulties for the dad. We have some quite strenuous watching and soothing and handholding that is expected of us.

I've got three finals to finish for grad school since Hannah decided to come right in the middle of them, so it's likely I won't be around IG until Saturday. Even so, be expecting the frequent "afk need to burp the baby" or "afk need to change a diaper" :P

Jumping for joy smiling like a proud parent when they take that first step; feel it in the heart when they say Mommy or Daddy for the first time... then you jump ahead.. ohh maybe it'll hit in 2 years, 5 years, 10.. but gaurenteed it will hit. One day you'll be sitting there and ask yourself... Why??

Congratulations!.. Girls are so much fun. I'm glad everyone is fine and healthy.:)

You and your family are in my thoughts daily, my friend. Times like these remind me how inadequate words are to express how happy I am for you. But a few years back, my wife and I received the gift of our first and only child, as you know. And I clearly recall holding my infant son just as you are there with Hannah. You and your wife are truly blessed and have a wonderful journey ahead of you.

Post by: Serissa on May 10, 2007, 06:32:35 pm: Get a front pack to carry her in. You need both hands to type. She'll sleep snugly, listening to the beat of your heart. If you can find one that can be turned inside out, you can face her forward when she's awake to be amused by the screen.

When she can hold her head up well enough, a back pack is wonderful. She'll be entertained for hours by looking over your shoulder.
