    Has anyone else noticed....
    « on: September 23, 2005, 08:02:00 pm »
One thing i have noticed is that after a certain amount of time or when you enter a certain area, your familiar/animal companion turns on you and attacks.
I was just wondering if this was a glitch or was put in. I must admit it is hilarious watching people getting attacked by their own companions. Luckily I don't use my familiar much so its only happened to me once and i ended up killing it.

     ;)

Why not just unsummon it? lol

But i'm gonna have to try that...If your familiar goes rabid, does it attack other group members too? So you can't be directly responsible? If so....*maniacal laughter*

I've had that happen while playing Hordes of the Underdark.  Sometimes an area effect made by a summon will hit a henchman, and then the henchman will start beating on the summon.

Yeah, if any AoE attack hits a summon the summon will turn on you ...

also, any summon with drown tends to turn on you.

On a similar note, "The Voice" which is used to translate laguage ears, will also turn and attack if it is hit with an AoE spell.

You should try it out. It is hilarious to watch a wizard get beaten down by their own familiar. I'm not too sure if animal companions do it, but in know familiars definitly do.
It happened in Seirwood forest once, at exactly the same time, my panther Xegeath and Tedulas panther Stalk turned on us and attacked. I almost fell off my chair in laughter.
