I must be doing something wrong....Everytime i try and equip it nothing happened. It just gives me a *error* noise and doesn't equip...

Ok you do have the gem tool which looks like a magic staff which you can buy from the craft vendor don't you?

erm.. no i got the item called 'Gem crafting tool' It looks like a circle with a gem in the middle

ahh you've got the wrong item thats why....go to the crafting vendor and look through the tabs in the inventory until you find the tools....there are three of them they look like magic staffs.  Get the cheapest and then you'll be good.  Remember though experiment...there are some models including the walking stick type staff which are only accessed through changing the colours on the customisation station.

Yea i'm looking around on it now. I've got something that looks like a walking stick but it rests on my shoulder and the bottom part is missing instead of the top. I have a feeling this may take awhile...

aha. Got it. Its a walking stick. yay. thanks ...although it looks like one he doesn't walk using it, but you can't have everything  
Although he still carries it on his shoulder like the staff did so...
