I'm having trouble....big trouble

Me and my dad both like to play together but as of last night we can't both be on at the same time.  Any suggestions on how to fix it or why we can't play?
What makes it really strange though is that i will see it as available on gamspy's roleplay section but when I go into my favorites it appears as offline.

Have you tried the 'direct connect' button? That would be my next step.

I think the problem is that you are on the same LAN. What you have to do is change the player port, I just can't remember where it is done.

The direct connect button will end in the same way as if I try to connect in the RolePlay section, it comes up as server not responding and times out.  Sadly the problem on the link is not whats going on either.

I just tryed to connect after my dad logged off and it sill came up as "server not responding".

Here's what you need to do:

1. Start up multi-player on one of the computers.
2. Start up a Lan game (doesnt matter which mod)
3. Click Advance Options in the lower right hand corner
4. Change the Server Port # to a diffrent Number (ie: Your Fathers is 2212 yours is 2212 change yours to 2213 this is just a example some numbers are way diffrent)
5. Click ok

This should save the information for you and allow both you and your father to play the game.

Then if that doesn't work, beat on keyboard and scream at top of lungs.  Doesn't fix anything, but it makes you feel better eh?

yeah, what Sakura said.... it's called port forwarding... basically you have to tell the router which 'tunnel' to send the information through for each computer.

you can change your port in you ini file too
