question on the death system
« on: September 23, 2006, 06:53:15 pm »
So I got my second DT :( this time though I rolled a 14 and I am 14th level but the DC was 15. Now the death system says 1% times your level chance. So my chance should have been 14%. 14% of 100 is 14 not 15. Can some explain why the chance is really 1% times your level plus 1.

It is correct. If you roll a 14, you get a DT. If you roll a 15 then you are off the hook. So since you roll a d100, a 14 out of 100 is a 14% chance.

So if you hit your chance you fail, you have to hit 1 above your chance to pass. If you have a 10% chance of doing something and you roll 10 on a D100 then you hit your chance, 9 and below would be the fail. What you are saying is that the chance to AVIOD a DT is 1% times your level plus one. So with most things it is a roll to pass that you are looking for, on this hitting your chance means you got it right on and you pass, here is your DT for passing LOL. This is a roll you want to fail.

If the d100 roll is your level or less you get a DT. Anything above your level is a save.
