Vanishing Legs
« on: December 30, 2005, 05:27:00 am »
It has been pointed out to me by a few players now, that my legs insist on vanishing!
That is, when wearing my bronze Full Plate either my complete legs, or just the shins are invisible to other players (they show up perfectly for me).
Removing and re-equipping the armour usually make them reappear.

I get the impression that this is a known Bioware issue, so I'm hoping for advice on a workaround, rather than expecting a fix!
Does anyone have advice as to how I can avoid this problem? Are there particular leg 'textures' to avoid?
Thanks

This is a known Bioware/Hak pak issue. The only way to fix (and it does not always work) is for the player that is seeing glitches (IE. in this case sees the missing legs) to log out and log back in so that the graphics can be reinitialized with the hak pak. But again, this does not always fix the problem.

This seems also to occur more often when someone logs or times out of Layonara (also applies to server crashes) but doesn't fully leave the NWN game itself.  Quitting all the way back to the desktop and then coming back into the game seems to keep it from happening, or at least from happening as much.
This is pretty similar to the other common HAK issue of white icons for some items when logging back into the game after logging out, timing out or a server crash and not fully exiting NWN.
If it matters, I haven't really seen either problem since I started using direct-connect icons to launch Layo rather than going through the NWN/Gamespy interface.

Thanks, this is pretty much what I had suspected, but it is nice to have it confirmed.

I guess that there is not a lot I can do about it then, other than ready a list of witty responses to other player's Tells!

Happy New Year!
