Okay, I know I spoke with Orth (Jay the Halfling, I think) about why I keep my ox standing about while I move through Sielwood, because it attacks everything if you don't keep constant control of the beast. So it's easier and safer to keep the thing at the entry point with the command, "Stand Your Ground," to just appear at the next entry point and maybe then safely move it to a safe point on the next map.

Well, now I feel bad because we had a party in the Grey Peaks and my Summons, who I can't get to usually fight when I tell him to "Fight Nearest Enemy" or takes 10 minutes of preparing and then stands around while everybody else is getting beat up; however, now decides to charge across the field (to take on the whole Ogre army) after I've told it just minutes prior to "Follow Me."

Sadly, I was changing my camera view because of the mountains and then saw my Summons running across the field...funny, at first I said to myself, "whose the numbskull running at the Ogres, oh wait, that's my Summons."

Then there was the lag that kept jumping the Ogre all over the place...usually on my tail as I was trying to heal somebody before they died. Well, I'm sorry but trying to heal with monsters around you is a good way of getting yourself killed.

Anyway, sorry guys. I can't seem to keep my henchmen under control for too long before they gain their own mind and do something stupid.

Poor Grympint...

Nobody stands you, not even celestial beings called to help you - they prefer a quick death than to wait for you.

*snickers*

I've found that binding Stand Your Ground and Fight Nearest to hotheys helps.

About the ox, I kind of miss the old way (despite the bugs that I never seemed to be a victim of) - I'd tell the ox to stay put and it would and would only attack if directly attacked.  I had never lost Oxfordian (my Ox's name) until the new system begun - since then I've lost two oxen because they have both rushed into combat for some reason, despite "dragging" them away from the enemies.

Is there a way to blind the oxen so that they don't attack enemies on sight?  I would so love that - I'd be able to navigate north of Hlint without my ox attacking the orcs.

On the whole, a very exciting time.  My super Level 5 Magic Missile mostly annoyed them, but I did get to make several disparaging comments about the ogre’s parentage just before he stomped me.  I can heal, but that emotional scar will be there a while.

Yes...  Good idea, buff the ox...

Barkskin, Mage Armor, Bull's Strength, Protection from evil, Magic weapon (?) and the bard song.

That would make a good battle ox.  With all that I could take the ox into the red caverns without worrying.

Great idea!  Thanks!  :)

Well besides from the oppotunity to buff your ox and send it to the red light caves the new rushing ox is quite bad for anything other that storage. No matter where you take it and how hard you tie it up it'll still charge everything in sight. I liked the old no-so-helpfull ox a lot better than these lean mean killing machines who are even less afraid than my character is.
