Monk feat help requested.
« on: July 28, 2005, 04:29:00 pm »
Does anyone know anything about the 'circle kick' feat? Does it work? After reading a forum discussion regarding this feat on the bioware sight it seems that it performs once then causes you to stop attacking?

If anyone knows anything or has any experience with this feat could you please pass it along?

That little bug has been fixed, and Circle Kick now performs as advertised.

I have a monk that used to use it. That was before it was fixed. Even then it was only slightly annoying. You just had to pay attention in combat and be ready to click so things didn't get you flat footed and negate your AC bonuses.
      I'd reccomend it to people.
Some folks hate it though... so...

I think the problem with it now (if its a problem) is that once you circle kick a target, you take the reciever of the circle kick as your new target (changing from your original target.)

This is not a huge problem in most combat (though its better to fully kill one enemy than half kill two, so you have less things smacking at you) but it can make fighting regenerating creatures a bit difficult.

Take it from me.  This feat is NOT good!  Look here.  'Pocketbeetle' and 'Noran the Axe' sum up pretty nicely the problem with this feat:

To be more clear; suppose you are fighting, say, a rogue and two fighters.  You know the rogue gets sneak attack, so you target him to avoid that.  In the middle of the round, after getting a hit on the rogue, you switch to one of the fighters with circle kick, and whammo!, you get two backstabs from the rogue!  You panic and click on the rogue mid-round to attack him.  Well, my friendly monk, you've just wiped out the rest of the attacks you were going to get that round, because you selected a new target.
At least you're on the rogue again, until you hit him, of course.  Then you'll circle kick right back to the fighters.  This gets even more fun against regenerating creatures.  To make matters worse, you can't even decide not to use it against certain opponents.  It's not a selectable skill.
Until this feat works like an attack of opportunity, instead of cleave, I HIGHLY advise not taking it.  Just my two coppers.
