Old areas

So I've started mapping Layo again as I used to do back in the old days and I noticed some locations on Mistone come up missing. I'm not asking for directions, just an idea if they even exist anymore after the server updates:

1. Dire Wood with spiders and ghosts
2. Fort Velensk and player arena thingy
3. Berhagen with giants! ( a place of many wacky party antics and death)
4. The snowy town of Lar and the Ulgrid fortress

Now I'm just about ready to continue mapping Dregar...

P.S. The re done areas look great! including the Moors east of Hlint and  Mountains past Storan's :-)

Over the passage of time (and versions of Layonara), the names of places have evolved (and changed).

For instance, Fort Velensk is now Fort Vehl.

I actually cannot remember which wood was the Dire Wood.

I can tell you all of those areas exist under a different names.

Many areas were renamed to avoid potential IP (intellectual property) conflicts with other works.  This is related to the effort to make Layonara a commercial property of its own, and we cannot have any overlap for legal and liability reasons.  In some few cases, there was an IC renaming (Rilara->Alindor, Xantril->Belinara, etc.). In other cases, we have to reset our minds and assume they were always called that.

It can be confusing, yes, so it may be easiest to not think too much about what they used to be and just work with what they are now.

Oh and as has been said, some sets of areas have been redesigned for one reason or the other.  You might also have a look at the maps to get your bearings.

And what used to be the Dire Wood is now Gloom Woods.  What was the Berhagens is now the Brech Mountains. Lar is called Lyn. As mentioned, Fort Velensk is Fort Vehl.
