Ok, I have started wondering about something recently: Agron's attack bonus [not base attack] is +6 unarmed. Primarily, he uses his longbow [now oak, thanks Sallaron], but occasionally has to pull out a long sword or mace when things get close [doesn't have point blank shot... yet]. Now, when using the longbow, his attack bonus goes to +10 and he hits consistently. But, I've noticed that when equipping either his longsword or mace, the attack bonus stays at +6, the same as unarmed. He also misses [i'm guessing here] at least 50% of the time.
He doesn't have the weapon focus or anything for either longsword or mace, but I would have thought that the attack bonus would at least rise above unarmed and he would be a bit more effective than he is. This is the first character I've played with any bard levels, but i've played a lot of ranger characters, and I've never noticed melee combat to be so inefficient. At this point it's almost better to leave the longbow equipped and take the penalties while in melee range.
Am I missing something important, or is this maybe a bug I'm having? I know I get penalties if I use two weapons, but this doesn't seem right...
