drinking and eating

I am wondering if I am having a problem. My char has to drink and eat like every 15 mins, He has gone through  almost a whole box of food in three sessions

Also keep in mind food and drink satisfy your hunger and thirst at different levels so the lower end food and water will take a lot more to satisfy you.

Leanthar I couldn't really follow that.  Does that mean that the higher the level the less you need to eat and drink?

Heh, no. Just that higher quality food fulfills hunger better. So, lower quality food and drink, like water from the canteens, and dried rations, will need to be consumed in greater quantities.

No there is definitely something weird going on.

There have been a few days when Sen has been in the same state as Glenn seems to have been yesterday - constantly needing to drink and eating a lot, especially drinking, to the point of rapidly going through two canteens and all the pile of fruit juices, wine, etc he is always lugging around. These days something was definitely going wrong.

And there are -mostly- days when he hardly ever ever needs to drink or eat, even in many many many many hours of play. And if he tries, he gets the messages about being a pig and drinking so much he will burst, "you are too full to eat that", etc.

This is for constant quality of food and drink.

Yesterday was a good in between day - Sen needed to drink and eat some. About like it should be imo. But that was more than "average" for Sen.

I have no idea how the code would be working behind something like this, but I think it is somehow aberrant. It did not really seem to be lag-related, like we blame so many things on lag. But there is something funny about it, the rate of thirst and hunger can definitely be very different sometimes. Unless maybe from time to time the devs are fine-tuning a parameter somewhere that would be changing this rate?

I've asked in-context about it when it was happening to me, noone else around me noticed a change which made me think it was individual when something goes pear-shaped. But yesterday Sen's consumption was up at the same time as Glen had his hungry day...so maybe its more server-wide when it happens, with variable impacts...who knows?

But Glenn's not a new player, if he says something was weird, he has been around long enough to know what's normal here and to know about the effects of different foods and drinks.

Funny, but I was talking about this to AnnaLee one day because it seems even after I drink two canteens full of water I have to drink again a few minutes later. Then there's the times when I just log back onto the site and I have to drink another canteen full of water. I'm amazed we're not made to urinate for 10 minutes. :p  Heeh.


Now, I was in the military and I couldn't drink a full canteen of water in one sitting. Of course, nobody could eat the nasty MREs crackers in a minute without drinking water (it was a safe bet if you asked somebody to try).

To be frank, Cole just drowns himself and eats until he can't stuff another bite in, ~every~ time he eats.  He never stops at "you're feeling refreshed."  It's always "You're going to burst soon!" or "You are too full to eat that."  I usually have to do that about once every 3-4 hours real time.

I also stuff my face and drink empty every canteens I have every time I stop to eat or drink (learned that with Cole).  I use the '/o C drink filled canteen' and '/o C eat catfish fillet' (or whatever it is, I can never remember) to reduce the animation - I find it distracting for a character to dance around before popping a morsel in his mouth.    Oh, there should be a limite to how much you can drink, just to be coherent with the eating limit.

There is Freldo, there are messages like "you'regoing to burst" or "all these liquids are making you bloated" or something like that when you go too far with the old canteen.

Jeez, it's like people are forgetting the innate idea of hunger.

When your hungry, EAT food, don't eat several crumbs and still be hungry...
