The Crossed Blades Tournament -- OOC Discussion

~~OOC rules and discussion~~

First round is over!

~postponed~

Awaiting confirmation by the contestants and the Leringard Arms to host the apr
รจs tournament party.

The winner takes 25000 True!  There will also be at least another 50000 True in other prizes at the tournament!

You need to participate to win, though.  Note that the tournament will have side matches for cash and prizes, so don't think just because you don't make it into the finals that you won't get a chance to shine.

Ideally I'd like to have the tournament the weekend of Feb 23rd, depending on if that fits the schedule of the four finalists.  Just a heads up.

Ideas for the tournament:
 • Mage duels where the mage buffs up a lower level fighter to fight on their behalf in the ring.  (Alternatively, dominated chickens. :-) )
 • Four-corner fights -- A participant in each corner with PC-quest chests scattered about with various weapons, magical wands, and such.  Combatants hunt and search for weapons to beat on each other with.
 • 3 vs. 3 fights
 • Copper & cloth fights -- only copper weapons, no armor, and no magics.  Even the playing field a bit.
Jobs at the tournament:
 • Merchants, ale merchants, cooks
 • Bookies taking bets
 • Jeering spectators
Lots of fun!

Travie left off accidentally; update forthcoming.

Remember:  A win over a fellow group member is worth two points.  A win over anyone else is worth one point.  What this means is that if you can get more wins in, there is a chance for you to win your group and move onto the next round... even if you're cannot beat the strongest in your group!

Prize money will be given to all winners out of the first round.  My PC is poor so he's still seeking "investors" to make the tournament successful from that point of view.

So... will multiple wins over the same opponent count for points?
If they are, it seems that would allow for the unscrupulous to take advantage of the rules... "Person in group a and I, who am in group b dueled 20 times... he won half and I won half, so we each have ten points."

Good point.  You may only face an opponent once for the tournament.

I have just one question:

When are spells to be cast? Is there a buff period prior to the beginning of the fight or will all spells be cast after it has started?

There is no use of magic with the Crossed Blades.

This tournament's first round is just like The Crossed Blades' dueling ranks:  It is up to the entrants to seek out duels to perform to get points.

Though I haven't picked a concluding date of the first round, making good progress this week on matches would be encouraging and give me an idea of when to end it.

Good luck!

Gents,
I'll sign up Jake Saltpetre for the Crossblades.  Where is the sign up sheet link?
Another duelist can't hurt, well except for the pointy end.

I was curious if this has been adapted to support dicebag's for the combat - while it will certainly slow down the process of avatar poking - it opens up the arena a bit for some clevery thinking and wild acrobatics

Though a point click slug fest does have my interest - too bad without spells Dur is just a 6 lvl fighter *winks*

Hey, don't forget the fact that you can make level requirements on items and also get a 1/2 AB bonus for levels in Wizard. ;)

I need to find some folks to match up with. I'm open all Thursday for challenges. :)

Anyone can PM me, meet on West, and duke it out if they want. I'm free usually with some notice.

Key will be my character o' choice.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull Ireth out of the Tournament...

Although it would be OOC for her to pull out I simply do not have the energy or ability to commit to this while I am nursing my Doctor approved sink into pain med addiction...

Sorry to all this effects :(
