Things kids eat...
« on: December 07, 2005, 12:44:00 pm »
I fed my 5 year old son corn-dogs today for lunch. After his corn-dog I have him three small squares from a hershey's bar as a treat, he immediately broke them into seperate squares, and then dipped them in the ketchup I had placed on his place to corn-dogs. I had a moment there where I wondered if I'd better deposit my lunch in the kitchen sink, or whether I could make it to the bathroom...

Two guys from my old dorm lived 3 years on canned tuna, pasta and ketchup.

Yeah. It's its own food group, when you're five. Served with everything. On sandwiches, as dip for green beans or other typical dinner-veggies, possibly on its own if you can't be stopped in time, all that...

Ranch dressing.....my three year old twins and two year old dip everything in ranch dressing.  Hot dogs, french fries, chicken nuggets, and yes...even bananas.

I would not be so sick at what KIDS eat ... because my GRANDFATHER eats peanutbutter onion and mayonaise sandwiches, pork chops with orange marmalade, and .... well ... pretty much anything or any combination of anything you put infront of him ...

But won't drink Vanilla Coke .... so I avoid THAT stuff like the plague ...

Boogers, bugs, dead lizards, crayons... yup.  The Four basic food groups of toddlers.  :)

My sister used to get me to eat worms for a penny each, until I figured out that a penny wouldn't buy anything.  Then I raised my price for a quarter, since that's what the grocery store candy machines took.

Found my son when he was two, chowing down on a bowl of rabbit flavoured cat biscuits. Looked like he was really enjoying them as well.

My daughter when she was three used to like hot curries, ones that make your head sweat when you eat them.. Never grew out of it, still enjoys spicey food. Oh, and loves ketchup with nearly every thing, one of her favourites is boiled rice and ketchup.. I cant watch when she eats it..

The tuna, pasta, and ketchup sounds familiar... Use tomato paste instead of ketchup, add some (TONS of) garlic, a bit of basil and parsley...

      Hey, fish spaghetti.

But that's not as ghetto as either of these.
      - Pressing the water out of a can of tuna, adding barbeque, and sticking the lot in the microwave for about forty-five seconds...
      - Venting a can of sardines, draining a little bit of the juice, squirting oyster sauce into the small triangular opening, and setting it on the stove to cook; still mostly sealed. (Don't want to lose the flavor, and the top of the can helps keep the fish from drying out, because the juice that boils turns right back over the top of the fish. Still, you'll only want to cook it long enough for the fish to get tender, and warm; it's easy to burn them to the bottom.)

Can you tell I survived on this sort of thing* for a while?

(And still did it gourmet-style, too.)

*sort of thing - Read as "wierd sort of [expletive]"

Some of the food combinations listed sound rather interesting.

Still on hiatus.  I'm sure my original characters are long gone, too.

My youngest daughter aged 3, will dip fries in ketchup, but then only licks the ketchup. It takes her forever to finish her fries and the ketchup bottle if you dont watch her will be empty.
But worst than that is the fact when we make fries, she will eat the raw potatoes. Then she does not care for ketchup.
The older one aged 5, will eat cereal, but not with milk, but rather as is or with peanut butter.

Pigeon is actually quit tasty. I have torn the heads of at least hundred pigeons, and almost eaten as many. But if I saw someone putting ketchup on a pigeon I would drag him in court. *spits on the ground* Unless it was one of the flying rats you see in every mayor city, I wouldn't eat one of those even if I was payed to do so.
