Temple donations

I was wondering what the temple donations that people make go to.  Is it just to see how much is given or is there some effect on the world.  I thought I read somewhere that if a diety got a lot that maybe bigger or nicer temples would be built or in more places.  I was looking and I noticed that Toran is on the top of the list but the only temple I can find for Toran is the one on Fort Llast and at least on the outside its not much to look at.  Anyway I was just curious.  Thank you.

With V3 right around the corner you can be that things such as donations play an important part.
You may only SEE a toran temple in Fort Llast but just as one town may have a Catholic, Baptist and Anglican church, many of the towns and cities have temples to the pantheon that are not represented as areas in game because of size limitations in the module.

Well, there used to be another temple of Toran but it got razed when Broegar took Pranzis. All the temple donations in the world wouldn't have stopped that though.

A couple thousand more Toranites might have, though.

The Toranite temple took a few good "wacks" during the battle for Prantz, but without divulging too much information, it wasn't Broegar that truly razed it, nor his army.

@ Krug - The first step is to find the temple of your character's deity, which your cleric should inquire about in game.  Once you find the temple, there should be a priest there that will give you the option to donate what you wish - gold coin or otherwise.  If "otherwise", the vendor at the temple will sell a "donation box" which you can just place what you'd like to donate in the box and submit it to the NPC there where you'll receive a receipt for the monetary value of your donations.
